The Trauma and Injury Prevention Administrative Assistant supports the trauma program and leads community injury prevention efforts. This role helps develop policies to ensure compliance, collaborates with Emergency Medical Services (EMS) partners, and plans outreach based on trauma trends.
Key responsibilities include monitoring and collecting patient data, reviewing medical records, and entering information into the Oregon Trauma Registry. The coordinator serves as a secondary trauma registrar and must understand trauma data reporting.
Working with the Trauma Program Manager, this role ensures CMH meets all requirements as a Level III Trauma Center. The coordinator helps educate the public, promote trauma care, and increase awareness of CMH’s trauma services through outreach and media efforts. In addition, this position applies for grant funded opportunities related to prevention program support. Additional related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements Knowledge of/Skill/Ability to: • Experience in healthcare with strong understanding of medical terminology and patient records. • Skilled in data extraction, analysis, and entry. • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal; able to lead meetings and speak to groups. • Familiar with EMS structure and protocols; capable of scheduling, coordinating, and recording accurate meeting minutes. • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks independently. • Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates professionalism.
License/Certification Must hold a clinical certification (e.g., Medical Assistant, EMT, CNA or equivalent training) approved by the hiring manager. Proof of program completion required. Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required.
Education and/or Experience Degree related to the medical field and knowledge of coding and medical records are strongly preferred. Previous clinical education/experience required. Education related to coding is highly preferred. Knowledge of EMS and the local community is preferred.
