    The YMCA Kids Stuff program is hiring fun, energetic, Leaders that love working with children and families.

    As a Kids Stuff Lead you can get paid to play with the kids and support a fun caring team of childcare staff. You will help to develop and explore creative and imaginative curriculum, activities and games. You will have fun teaching kids a love of reading, leading art activities, leading a gym activity, teaching being a good sport and social skills. Become a role model and engage with children, helping them discover the fun in playing, learning and making new lifelong friends.

     

    Our goal at the YMCA Kids Stuff program is to provide kids with a safe, fun space at the Y to thrive and as a Lead you are in charge of creating that!     Requirements and Opportunities:

    + Minimum age of 18 or older

    + Minimum 6 months of childcare/youth program experience leading and supervising children

    + Team Lead/ Leadership experience is preferred

    + Ability to motivate, energize and entertain children

    + Knowledge of appropriate curriculum and activities for various age levels

    + Work with infants to age 10 in a diverse group setting

    + Organize and lead a variety of activities appropriate for infants to age 10

    The salary for this position starts at $16.00 hourly. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.

     

    1. Job Summary:

     

    The Kids Stuff Lead is responsible for providing quality care to children in a positive, nurturing environment while their caregivers are using the YMCA facilities. The Kids Stuff area could include children between the ages of 6 weeks and 10 years of age.

     

    2. Essential Functions

    + Greet and communicate professionally and courteously with members providing specific information about the children’s experience.

    + Maintain a safe play environment.

    + Follow daily sanitizing procedures and help out with weekly cleaning schedules to ensure the site is kept clean and organized at the end of the day/shift.

    + Supervise, play and initiate games and activities with children.

    + Provide support for the reservation systems and procedures and trouble shoot problems.

    + Assist Director with the planning, supervising, managing ratios and implementation of the program and program activities.

    + Provide work direction to program staff while on duty assisting the Director with supervision and training.

    + Perform administrative activities to support the program, which could include spreadsheet tracking, maintaining adequate supplies, submitting purchasing needs, overseeing online reservation calendars, tracking staff trainings and managing the weekly work schedule.

    + Attend all staff meetings and training sessions.

    + Follow all procedures and policies of the department, branch, and Association.

    3. Relationships:

     

    This position reports to the Program Director. The incumbent interacts regularly with children and parents and staff. Provides work direction to staff as required.

     

    4. Qualifications:

    Required

    + Minimum age of 18

    + Minimum of 6 months experience leading and supervising children

    + Ability to motivate, energize, and entertain children

    + Knowledge of appropriate activities for various age levels – including skill and ability to implement curriculum

    + Required training: building EMG procedure training, YMCA Kids Stuff Lead staff training, SUIDs, AHT, Child Abuse Prevention, Bullying Awareness, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Emergency Action Plan

    + Demonstrated organizational and child supervision skills

    5. Work Conditions:

    + Ability to lead and participate in physical activities that may include but are not limited to walking, standing for long periods of time, bending, reaching, running, throwing, kicking and lifting up to 50 lbs.

    + Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in hazardous/dangerous situations.

    + May be exposed to verbal outbursts, physical actions or bodily fluids as part of the environment.

    + Work environments range from quiet work areas to busy, noisy indoor and outdoor spaces.
