Job Title: Applications Engineer II

Job Purpose
In the role of Applications Engineer II, you will be integral in providing 24x7 emergency support through task-assigned processes using code changes, updates, testing, and troubleshooting methods to ensure product functionality and stability. You will assist in the deployment of new and existing solutions, utilizing peer coaching, documentation, standards, and outlined procedures on customers' servers and field equipment, ensuring proper installation and system functionality. Your key contributions will help drive our commitment to delivering exceptional service to our clients.
The primary objectives of this role are:
• Reducing the number of support tickets escalated to Product Engineers by providing specialized services for diagnosing and resolving support tickets from the Regional Support Teams.
• Providing in-office and onsite support to achieve successful configuration and validation of product installations/deployments. This encompasses new deployments on mobile mining equipment, servers, and office computers, validating existing deployments, adding new modules, and performing system updates.
Travel Requirements
Travel for this position is expected to be less than 10%.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
+ Collaborate and communicate across business units within Modular Mining Systems to achieve overarching strategic goals and objectives effectively.
+ Maintain compliance with all legislative, Modular Mining Systems, and customer site policies, rules, and requirements to ensure operational integrity.
+ Reinforce awareness and demonstrate commitment to the philosophy that safety is the top priority, striving for "zero accidents" as an achievable goal.
+ Provide effective and efficient resolution of assigned product support tasks, ensuring timely responses to customer needs.
+ Validate, reproduce, and troubleshoot product issues in both lab and production environments, ensuring high-quality standards.
+ Diagnose root causes of problems and identify workarounds where possible to minimize disruption.
+ Offer detailed feedback to the development team regarding root causes and necessary steps to reproduce issues for future improvements.
+ Deliver exceptional customer service and technical support through support tickets and other customer interactions, building strong relationships and trust.
+ Enhance internal communication and customer satisfaction through diligent handling of support and project tasks.
+ Utilize system and subject knowledge to propose innovative solutions aimed at reducing the quantity of support tickets created and escalated to higher levels of support. This includes driving root cause analysis, contributing to the knowledge base, and identifying areas for product improvement.
Required Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a similar field, or 2-3 years equivalent work experience.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to approach challenges methodically.
+ Excellent time management skills, with an ability to balance competing priorities in an organized and efficient manner.
+ Capability to remain composed in stressful situations, maintaining a focus on solutions.
+ Ability to work autonomously, concentrate on assigned tasks, and consistently meet deadlines.
+ Aptitude for maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues, managers, and customers alike.
+ Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
+ Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems, showcasing adaptability across platforms.
+ Fundamental knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting processes.
+ Understanding of user security and rights management protocols.
+ Basic knowledge of scripting and programming languages such as Kotlin, Java, shell, bash, PowerShell, batch, and Python.
Desired Skills
+ Experience with DevOps strategies and methodologies throughout the deployment and validation process, contributing to continuous improvement.
+ Minimum of 1 year working in a technical support role, demonstrating a commitment to customer service excellence.
+ Previous experience in the mining industry is highly valuable and beneficial.
+ Familiarity with Microsoft IoT Edge and IoT Hub along with production-grade storage solutions for Kubernetes.
+ Knowledge of Windows Server and SQL Administration practices.
+ Proficiency in Linux command-line operations, package management, and an understanding of filesystems, file permissions, shell scripting, system and service management, networking, security, and system performance monitoring.
