Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Scope of Position
Lead cross functional project teams through the IPP / State Gate project management system. This includes project planning (scope, timelines, milestones, change management), execution of the project plan (coordinating experiments, documenting results, and adapting plans to learnings), managing the team (motivating the team to achieve project goals, gaining consensus, conflict resolution, recognizing excellence, etc.), and managing communication up and down the organization to stakeholders and steering team members.
Key Responsibilities
+ Provide leadership of complex projects within Cable Technology. Responsible for cost, schedule, and technical performance of new product/process innovation development and transfers.
+ Maintain communication and develop strong relationships with project team(s) and stakeholders. This includes setting team meeting schedules and agendas, completing updates and report outs as required, presenting to stakeholders in formal project update meetings, etc. (Stakeholders and team members often cross functional and geographical boundaries.)
+ Utilizes steering team effectively for key decisions and support.
+ Define competencies required to create project teams that can efficiently achieve project goals. Monitor and address resource gaps on an ongoing basis.
+ Draw expertise from team members and the technical/commercial/manufacturing network to solve problems, drive key learnings, and progress toward project goals.
+ Document project goals, objectives, Plan of Record, team meeting minutes, formal decisions, and milestones on the Sharepoint IPP project site.
+ Follow the State Gate process for project management.
+ Use program management best practices as applicable, including Solution Progression Strategy, Risk Assessments.
+ Pursue patents for new products and technologies developed. Ensures that IP is protected.
+ Manage the performance of team members to meet the project requirements. Build consensus among team members on goals, tactics, and accountability.
+ Develop criteria for prioritizing work tasks. Focus on the most significant activities with the highest business potential and impact.
Required Qualifications
+ BS in Engineering discipline or equivalent.
+ 5+ years in a Product Development environment leading cross-functional workstreams requiring strong stakeholder management skills.
+ Experience with transfer of new products into manufacturing. Understands how to navigate needs of each department.
+ Thorough understanding of Project Management practices, principles, and tools for product development projects.
+ Proven technical aptitude with ability to discern technical approaches by asking the right questions of the team, analyzing data, and judgement.
+ Skilled at negotiation and influence and able to guide steering team towards consensus.
+ Proven ability to communicate with and convey technical information effectively across various organizational levels
+ Ability to motivate and guide others who are not direct reports to achieve project objectives.
Desired Qualifications
+ Knowledge & experience with Optical Fiber / Cable process development or manufacturing
+ Understanding of Ribboning, Stranding and Extrusion Processes
+ Organized, detail-oriented, self-starter, and motivated.
+ Experience in optical communications and manufacturing environments, ability to engage in technical discussions.
+ Proficient use of Microsoft Office Tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project, Teams).
+ Experience with written and oral technical reports.
+ Understanding of risk analysis tools (FMEA) and rigorous decision-making processes (KT).
+ Proficient in DMAIC and MEE methodologies for problem solving
+ Experience with statistical software such as Minitab or JMP.

The range for this position is $155,994.00 - $214,493.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
