Job Summary and Qualifications
The Pharmacy Practice Residency is a twelve-month postgraduate program designed to provide the resident with extensive, broad-based training and experience in health system pharmacy leadership. The goal of the residency is to teach the residents how to manage pharmacy services by applying a mix of traditional and innovative management theories to solve operational problems. The resident actively participates in achieving the educational goals and objectives for each training experience. Participates in the design and completion of a residency project. Interprets and processes physicians’ drug orders and provides information to medical, nursing and other healthcare personnel concerning the optimal, safe use of medication therapy. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Pharmacy services are provided 24 hours a day/seven days a week. Schedule may vary according to the needs of the department and may include weekend, shift, holiday, on-call, and additional hours.
What you will do in this role:
+ Participates in training and educational activities of the residency program to produce the following outcomes: a) acquire the knowledge necessary for high-level problem-solving b) refine problem solving strategies c) strengthen professional and leadership values and activities d) advance growth in clinical judgment
+ Displays initiative in providing optimal patient medication therapy outcomes through clinical pharmacy services, education, special projects, innovative services, and other appropriate activities
+ Interprets and processes physician orders, monitors drug interactions, allergies and drug incompatibilities, and dispenses and performs the final check of all medications provided for patient use
+ Maintain active involvement in local, state, and/or national pharmacy professional organizations
+ Maintains knowledge and understanding of Pharmacy and Medical Center information systems
+ Delivers effective education and training using appropriate techniques
+ Presents pharmacy concerns, solutions, and interests in a balanced and effective manner
+ Effectively uses time-management skills to fulfill practice and training responsibilities
+ Completes a project approved by the Residency Program Director
+ Maintain documentation and self-evaluation in a timely manner within Pharm Academic Assist with quality improvement initiatives, inventory, and drug utilization reviews
+ Monitor, record, and communicate as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation system
+ Performs other duties as assigned
+ Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” and “Mission and Value Statement”
What qualifications you will need:
+ Pharmacy Degree, required
+ Completion of an ASHP-Accredited PGY1 Residency, required or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
+ Current licensure as a pharmacist in the state of Kansas, within 90 days of hire, required
+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support, preferred
+ PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support, preferred
