GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
The Facilities/EH&S Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and improvement of buildings, equipment, and infrastructure across multiple office and production sites. This role ensures facility operations are safe, efficient, and compliant with all relevant environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) regulations. The manager leads a team of technicians and contractors, develops safety programs, and serves as the primary liaison for regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Facilities & Maintenance Management
+ Manage daily operations for maintenance, facilities, and janitorial services.
+ Coordinate building modifications, equipment installations, and office relocations.
+ Supervise facility inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance programs.
+ Maintain equipment inventories, service records, and ensure code compliance.
+ Oversee vendors and contractors; ensure timely, cost-effective service.
Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Compliance
+ Develop and enforce EH&S policies aligned with OSHA, EPA, and state/local regulations.
+ Conduct safety audits, training programs, and accident investigations.
+ Monitor hazardous waste handling, chemical storage, and air quality (VOC) compliance.
+ Maintain and report EH&S data including TRIR, OSHA logs, and required permits.
+ Ensure stormwater, fire safety, and emergency response procedures are in place and effective.
Leadership & Communication
+ Supervise maintenance staff and contractors; manage work assignments, performance evaluations, and hiring needs.
+ Partner with HR and department leaders on workplace safety, training, and injury response.
+ Maintain open, effective communication across teams and with regulatory bodies.
Risk Management & Emergency Response
+ Lead emergency preparedness initiatives and response efforts.
+ Review incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
+ Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive EH&S matters with discretion.
+ Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
+ Yes manages technicians, contractors, and support personnel within maintenance and EH&S department.
Required Experience:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
+ Moderate experience with and ability to utilize Microsoft Office suites, primarily Excel and Word.
+ Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
+ Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
+ Ability to train others, as needed on safety and compliance related topics.
+ Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.
+ Ability to adhere to workplace rules.
+ Use of equipment designed to inspect, test, monitor, and measure safe environmental levels.
+ Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
+ Valid U.S. driver’s license required; must pass background check and drug screening.
+ Use of standard office equipment.
+ Must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
+ Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
+ Demonstrated communication and teamwork skills with customers, co-workers and subcontractors to express ideas and safety concepts and solve problems.
+ Ability to research applicable regulatory requirements and understand, communicate and implement correct procedures to ensure proper compliance within company protocol.
+ First Aid / CPR / AED Certification or the ability to obtain.
Preferred:
+ Active Security Clearance
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
+ Minimum of (3) years or more of relevant experience required.
+ Strong knowledge of OSHA, CAL EPA, CAL CERS, and hazardous materials handling.
+ Experience with safety audits, emergency response, and EH&S reporting.
+ Familiarity with AC/DC electrical systems, forklifts, and lift equipment preferred.
+ Able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing needs.
Preferred:
+ Bachelor’s degree
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
+ Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods (up to 9 hours).
+ Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. unassisted.
+ Frequent walking, standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, bending, crawling, and overhead reaching.
+ Continuous use of hands for grasping, pulling, and pushing.
+ Work may take place in non-climate-controlled areas and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, humidity, or wet environments.
+ Regular exposure to noise, dust, vibration, and chemical fumes within OSHA limits.
+ Occasional exposure to hazardous materials, airborne particles, and biological agents, with appropriate PPE provided.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
+ 0-25% - May be required to travel between locations.
