Description
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Trust and Estates Paralegal to join our team in the Harwich, MA area. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in estate planning, probate administration, and legal documentation who thrives in a detail-oriented and collaborative environment. As part of the legal team, you will play a critical role in supporting attorneys and ensuring the smooth management of trust and estate matters.
Responsibilities:
• Assist attorneys in drafting and finalizing estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and health care directives.
• Conduct in-depth legal research on Massachusetts trust and estate laws to support case preparation.
• Manage estate administration processes, such as preparing probate pleadings and coordinating court submissions.
• Oversee trust funding and implementation by preparing trust schedules and ensuring accurate account titling and beneficiary designations.
• Review client accounts for compliance with fiduciary requirements and tax regulations.
• Provide meeting support by gathering client information, summarizing key details, and tracking follow-up tasks.
• Communicate with clients, financial advisors, and other stakeholders to facilitate estate planning activities.
• Monitor deadlines and milestones in trust and estate matters to ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Assist in the preparation of estate, gift, and fiduciary tax returns.
• Maintain organized and accurate case files, adhering to firm policies and legal requirements.
Requirements • Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certification is preferred.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in trust and estate planning, administration, and document drafting.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Massachusetts trust and estate laws, probate procedures, and tax considerations.
• Strong legal drafting and proofreading skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective client and team collaboration.
• Proficiency in legal research tools, document management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines with accuracy.
• Demonstrated capability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
