Robert Half is seeking an Accountant for a long-term contract employment opportunity in Carson City, Nevada. This role is situated within the government sector, requiring the successful candidate to administer and track federal funds, generate regular reports, and maintain clear communication through various mediums. The role also involves additional office duties as required.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and track federal funds to ensure appropriate allocation and use

• Prepare and present monthly and quarterly financial reports

• Collaborate with a state agency to report on the allocation and usage of funds

• Utilize Microsoft Excel to maintain and analyze financial data

• Leverage your experience with government operations to ensure regulatory compliance

• Assist with various office tasks as needed

• Maintain clear and effective written communication, both internally and externally

This is a long-term contract opportunity, anticipated to last 6 months. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to impactful projects, develop expertise in accrual accounting, and work with an organization dedicated to providing strong financial oversight for multiple programs.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Support efforts to bring the programs financials up to date, ensuring all transactions are tracked accurately and systematically.

+ Learn and apply the organization's bond accounting processes, including accrual accounting for multiple programs.

+ Assist with general ledger accounting tasks, ensuring compliance with fiscal standards.

+ Collaborate with internal teams to provide detailed financial insights and improve operations.

+ Prepare for and contribute to the organization's fiscal year-end, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

Requirements

+ Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field required.

+ Strong background in general ledger accounting.

+ Experience with accrual accounting preferred but not required; training on bond accounting will be provided.

+ Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.

+ Strong analytical skills with the ability to track and report complex financial data.

+ Adaptability and eagerness to learn specialized financial tasks related to bond accounting.
