    Our non-profit client is looking for an experienced Accountant to join their team in Torrington, Connecticut. The ideal candidate will bring strong GAAP accounting skills and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.     Responsibilities:

    • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate transactions.

    • Perform detailed bank reconciliations to verify financial accuracy and resolve discrepancies.

    • Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all entries are properly recorded.

    • Prepare and post journal entries to support accurate financial reporting.

    • Manage month-end close procedures, including generating financial statements and reports.

    • Handle grant accounting tasks, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and proper allocation.

    • Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities to support organizational planning.

    • Collaborate with internal teams to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.

    • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and accounting standards.

    • Provide financial analysis to aid in strategic decision-making.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a similar role.

    • Proficiency in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management.

    • Strong understanding of journal entries and month-end close procedures.

    • Experience with bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.

    • Knowledge of grant accounting processes and compliance requirements.

    • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

    • Familiarity with accounting software and tools.

    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

    • BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
