Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join our client's team based in Carmel, Indiana. This is a growth-projected role with an eye toward future succession planning. As core responsibilities in this role, you will assist in corporate tax planning and reporting while you will also oversee state tax compliance, audits, and strategic tax planning initiatives within a fast-paced environment. This position requires expertise in multi-state corporate taxation and a strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and efficient tax reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review multi-state corporate income and franchise tax returns to ensure compliance with all applicable state regulations.

• Conduct in-depth research and analysis of state tax laws to support tax planning strategies and minimize liabilities.

• Assist with state tax audits by responding to notices, gathering necessary documentation, and working with tax authorities.

• Collaborate with internal teams, including finance and legal, to align tax strategies with broader business objectives.

• Manage state tax credits, incentives, and apportionment methodologies to optimize financial outcomes.

• Calculate and execute quarterly state income tax estimates and payments accurately and on time.

• Drive process improvements within tax compliance and reporting to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

• Leverage technology tools to create detailed workpapers and streamline data import/export processes.

• Perform other tax-related duties as assigned to support the department's overall goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced certifications are a plus.

• A minimum of 3+ years of experience in a public tax firm with strong technical writing and data analytics skills.

• Proficiency in tax software such as CCH ProSystem Fx or OneSource is preferred.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and experience with querying databases for reporting purposes.

• Demonstrated experience in multi-state corporate and pass-through entity taxation.

• Strong knowledge of building financial models to evaluate business opportunities.

• Ability to work extended hours and occasional overtime as needed to meet deadlines.
