Description We are looking for an experienced Grant Accountant to join our team in Hamden, Connecticut. This Contract-to-permanent position offers the opportunity to work within the healthcare and non-profit sectors, focusing on grant financial management and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, grant management, and financial reporting, with a proven ability to handle complex funding portfolios.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare detailed invoices and financial reports for a variety of grants and contracts.
• Maintain accurate monthly close workpapers, ensuring proper tracking of grant receivables and deferred revenues.
• Develop and submit budget proposals and supporting documentation for funding applications, contract renewals, and budget modifications.
• Review payroll allocation changes bi-weekly and create journal entries to adjust retroactive changes.
• Update and manage the list of employees, ensuring accurate grant and project allocations.
• Monitor and report on revenue and expenses for each funding source, highlighting significant variances to program directors.
• Assess and improve accounting processes and procedures, implementing enhancements for greater efficiency.
• Assist in the financial transition processes for newly acquired entities.
• Prepare grant budgets, revisions, and reports to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
• Collaborate closely with organizational leaders to meet accounting needs, including reporting, budgeting, and communication processes. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• At least 5 years of experience in grant accounting or a related field.
• Proficiency in Abila MIP and other accounting software systems.
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting, and auditing processes.
• Proven ability to analyze revenues, expenses, and funding sources effectively.
• Familiarity with cash activity management and capital management practices.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work with various stakeholders.
