Description

We are looking for a meticulous and experienced Staff Accountant to join our team in Chicago, Illinois. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, and maintaining accurate records. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact within the non-profit sector.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the general ledger by performing accurate journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.

• Prepare financial statements and internal reports for management and board review.

• Monitor and reconcile restricted and unrestricted funds, including grant-related revenues and expenditures.

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions efficiently and accurately.

• Assist in the annual audit process by gathering documentation and coordinating with external auditors.

• Ensure adherence to nonprofit accounting standards and organizational compliance policies.

• Maintain organized and comprehensive financial records for easy access and reporting.

• Collaborate with program teams to support budget tracking and prepare grant-related financial reports.

Salary - 70K-80K

Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a preference for nonprofit or fund accounting expertise.

• Proficiency in QuickBooks and familiarity with nonprofit accounting standards.

• Strong skills in Excel and spreadsheet management.

• Exceptional attention to detail, organizational abilities, and analytical skills.

• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks while adhering to deadlines.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
