    General Description:

    The Sr Facilities Engineer III is directly responsible for safely administering and maintaining the facility to ensure the reliable, efficient, and sustained operation of all systems and equipment. Additionally, supports project operations and site goal objectives, including construction and remodeling projects, and ensures compliance with safety, regulatory, corporate and site requirements. Provides facility support on infrastructure and hospitality services; Support lab SOPs; Lab deliveries.

    Principal Responsibilities:

    + Manages and troubleshoots complex facility systems which include Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), steam boilers, electronic control systems, electrical, safety systems, and/or other utilities at all Valent USA facilities.

    + Supervises preventative and corrective maintenance on laboratory equipment, including HVAC, steam boiler, electronic control systems, refrigeration, electrical, compresses air and gases, water treatment, security systems, safety systems.

    + Interprets drawings, layouts, wiring diagrams, and specifications in planning and performing maintenance and repairs and is involved in new equipment and new system installations, as needed.

    + Works with managers of off-site VUSA facilities to coordinate maintenance, facility upgrades & major equipment purchases.

    + Authors accurate documentation for the operation and maintenance of various utility systems and supplies information and technical data for securing spare parts.

    + Ensure operations are in accordance with safety requirements and relevant SOP’s.

    + Assists Laboratory Specialist in commissioning all laboratories mechanical and utility systems, including building management and control systems for mechanical and utility equipment.

    + Develop processes for coordinating multiple utilities to support continuous facility operations.

    + Using OEM manuals develops and evaluates PM procedures.

    + Reviews vendor information and coordinates vendor activities related to equipment installation, operation, and maintenance.

    + Coordinates with the building owner’s representative on the operation and optimization of utilities using equipment operating in parallel (lead/lag).

    + Develops mechanical and utility related SOPs along with Laboratory Specialist and provides expertise to optimize system functionality.

    + During facility construction and modifications facilitates the sign off on construction drawings and design development drawings for new construction, tenant improvements.

    + Facilitates construction changes through Project Team.

    + Works with Sr. Leadership, Directors, Managers, all levels of team to communicate project goals, changes, facilitate company and individual’s needs.

    + Develops and manages maintenance programs and safety oversight for building infrastructure and MEP systems throughout Valent USA LLC facilities (fire and life safety, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, electrical systems). Creates Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

    + Operates under Good Laboratory Practice Standards as required.

    + Develops, manages, analyzes, and adjusts Capex budget for facility infrastructure equipment and systems (includes maintenance agreements and budget development for replacement). Maintains replacement schedule for equipment.

    + Manages Capex projects including development of project scope and budget, interface with departments to access need, negotiates contractor agreements and coordinate work.

    + Handle the complete purchasing process for non-office supplies.

    + Capex oversight for facility equipment.

    + Reviews and approves invoices and requests for payments for goods and services to ensure prompt and accurate approvals for payments.

    + Works with Finance to provide acquisitions and retirement data of capital assets to maintain integrity of company assets database.

    + Participates in Valent Group Company facility evaluations and projects.

    + Participates on the EH&S/Safety Committee to ensure facilities are safety compliant.

    + Regular Service inspections and maintenance of Life Safety equipment and fire extinguishers, as required.

    + Manages all VUSA facility leases.

    + Manages equipment inspections as required by jurisdiction. Includes documenting, archiving reports, report results.

    + Assisting spill clean-up of chemicals and other hazardous waste as appropriate

    + Communicates information on situations to all levels of staff to enable best opportunity for continued business operations.

    + Continually searches for cost effective processes to streamline daily operations and costs.

    + Maintains training and communication with back-up staff for dependable and uninterrupted service.

    + Participates on EHS Safety Team, participates in monthly inspections with EHS Safety Team

    + Works with Lab Directors to maintain zero accident and zero incident work culture • Work with Lab Staff to operate under site compliance and regulatory requirements.

    + Works with Environmental Health and Safety staff (EH&S) to operate under site compliance and regulatory requirements.

    + Back up to Lab Specialist (1) and Day Porter (2) for facility related services, such as on-call service to window coverings, plumbing, washers, light bulbs, ceiling tiles, elevator, roof leaking, Pest control (according to GLP standard operating procedures); all work using GLP standards.

    + Additional duties as required.

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering required or 10 years of relevant experience.

    + Must have proven experience scheduling mechanical, electrical, and trade contractors.

    + Certified Facility Manager (CFM) certification desirable.

    + GLP Standards experience preferred.

    + Other facility related certifications a plus: Certified Professional Maintenance Manager (CPMM), Certified Plant Engineer (CPE), Certified Professional Supervisor (CPS), etc.

    + Pharmaceutical, Life Science, Chemical, or Process laboratory facility experience is a plus.

    + Experience in major facility management, expansion, upgrade, or new construction.

    + Requires excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to be applied.

    + Good communication and interpersonal skills.

    + Ability to interact with all levels of management.

    + Safety training.

    + Physical Demands include constant sitting, walking, standing, simple grasping and fine manipulation with hands; frequent bending at the neck and waist; and occasional squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, twisting at the neck and waist, power grasping, pushing and pulling with hands, reaching above shoulder level, lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs.

    + Work Environment includes exposure to or working in or around equipment and machinery including a computer keyboard and mouse.

    + Will require up to 20% travel to visit Valent USA facilities & to attend corporate meetings and events.

    Base Salary: The estimated annual base salary for this position ranges from:

    $120,000 to $170,000. Individual pay is based upon location, skills, experience, and other relevant factors.

     

    Incentives: All full-time employees are eligible for an incentive program or profit-sharing program in addition to their base salary.
