    As a **Lead R&D Engineer/Scientist** here at Honeywell, you will be responsible for providing guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise to lead critical project groups.     _You will report directly to our Director of R&D and you will work out of our Plymouth, MN location. This role is eligible for hybrid work mode, except for the first 90 days._

    The application period for the job is estimated to be 40 days from the job posting date; however, this may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.

     

    The annual base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $190,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.

     
     

    Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Conduct research and development activities aligned with organizational goals and objectives

    + Design and conduct experiments, simulations, and analyses to drive new technology and product development

    + Lead ideation, conceptualization, and prototyping of innovative solutions

    + Collaborate with internal and external partners

    + Ensure R&D projects meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and quality protocols

    + Contribute to strategies for successful commercialization of R&D innovations

    YOU MUST HAVE

    + Master’s degree in Engineering (preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Engineering Physics) or a related field.

    + Experience with integrating and troubleshooting complex systems, including optical, mechanical, electrical, and software components.

    + Proficiency in system integration methodologies, including coordinating the integration of multiple sub-systems and ensuring their compatibility and functionality.

    + Ability to operate and maintain complex systems, perform data collection, and conduct system calibration and validation.

    + Strong documentation skills, including the ability to capture minimum viable product documentation, system requirements, and test procedures.

    + Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and external partners.

    + Research & Development experience with systems integration

    + Systems Architecture and Requirements Definition experience

    + Must be a US Person due to contractual requirements

    WE VALUE

    + PhD in Engineering

    + Experience working as a systems engineer in a relevant field, such as LiDAR systems, optics design, remote sensing, or atmospheric measurements.

    + Strong knowledge of laser beam propagation, signal processing, and data analysis.

    + Familiarity with atmospheric measurement techniques and instruments, such as aerosol scattering, Doppler wind LiDAR, or gas concentration measurement.

    + Knowledge of LiDAR data processing techniques and software tools for data analysis, visualization, and interpretation.

    + Experience in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to hardware, software, or data acquisition in a timely manner.

    + Familiarity with product development life cycles, including design, prototyping, testing, and productization.

    + Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations in the atmospheric measurement or remote sensing field.

    + Experience in project management, including coordinating activities, tracking progress, and reporting on project status.

    + Experience briefing Senior Leadership and 3 rd party stakeholders such as customers and sub-contractors

    + An open, honest and team oriented personality

    + Ability to lead, motivate, develop and mentor others

    + Experience serving as a team leader for systems development programs

    + Experience with new product development
