Essential Job Functions
A Cashier-Clerk is responsible for performing a combination of the following essential job functions:
+ Keeps records of cash, records of refunds.
+ Lists, totals, and balances daily collections, segregating and endorsing checks and warrants.
+ Prepares, issues, and checks receipts, transmittal and withdrawal format deposit slips, ledger sheets, journal vouchers, etc.
+ Prepares monies for deposit.
+ Answers routine inquiries concerning charges and collections by letters, telephone, and in person.
+ Operates office machines and equipment and types and prepares forms as necessary.
+ Opens and sorts mail, verifies amounts of remittances enclosed and transmits them to the section concerned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
No training or experience is required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:
+ Age Requirement: You must be sixteen (16) years old or older byJune 15, 2025. Proof of age will be required at time of appointment.
+ Work Permit: Will be required at time of appointment for minors under the age of eighteen (18) years old.
Physical class:
Physical Class II – Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

OUR ASSESSMENT PROCESS:
This examination will consist of a computer base exam weighted 100%. This will be a multiple-choice test that covers qualifications, experience and work habits, cashiering experience, training and skills, clerical experience and training, and people skills.
TRANSFER OF TEST COMPONENTS
If you have taken identical components recently for other exams, your responses may be automatically transferred to this examination. This exam contains test components that might be used on future exams, and your responses could be transferred to that exam.
Candidates applying to both Cashier-Clerk (Exam No. D1251U), and Cashier-Clerk, Castaic Lake Recreational Area (Exam No.D1251T) will only be required to take the multiple-choice exam once. The score will be used for both exams.
THE MULTIPLE CHOICE TEST IS NOT REVIEWABLE BY CANDIDATES PER CIVIL SERVICE RULE 7.19.
Applicants must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the examination in order to be placed on the eligible list.
Eligibility Information:
Candidates who passed the assessment are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months.
Notice of Non-Acceptance and Final Result letters will be sent electronically to your e-mail address. Scores cannot be given over the telephone.
Available Shift:
The work week may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
