As a Forensic Manufacturing Engineer, you will be directly responsible for building, testing, qualifying, and producing next-generation spacecraft. You will utilize innovative solutions and cutting-edge technology to solve complex manufacturing and engineering problems daily, both at a systems and specialized level. You will serve as a crucial link between production, development, tooling, supply chain, and quality teams, leading production on the assembly line and new production introductions. You will be responsible for developing and executing root cause analysis on defective or failed production modules to drive production yield to 100%. Additionally, you will build repeatable repair structures for common module defects through the development of work instructions, bills of material, and routing for repair shop orders.
Responsibilities
+ Develop production processes and technical data by defining, testing, validating, documenting, and deploying new rework procedures, work order routings, bills of material, and test report structures.
+ Lead root cause analysis of failed or defective production materials, including documenting and approving teardown/investigation plans, executing special test and teardown plans, documenting investigations and conclusions on root causes of defects, and developing corrective action plans for future defects.
+ Collaborate with design engineering groups on delivering technical solutions for recurring defect modes.
+ Represent the Manufacturing Engineering function in the Material Review Board (MRB) process.
Essential Skills
+ Familiarity with Low Rate Manufacturing Environments and New Product Introduction.
+ Knowledge of Lean manufacturing practices and principles.
+ Experience with Root Cause Analysis techniques such as Fishbone, Fault Tree, DMAIC, etc.
+ Experience in high traceability and regulation manufacturing environments (Aerospace, Medical Device, etc.).
+ Proficiency in process improvement, manufacturing processes, continuous improvement, and Six Sigma.
+ Experience with Siemens NX, Python, aerospace, medical device, statistical analysis, and Minitab.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with SAP or similar ERP software.
+ Experience with NX Unigraphics or similar CAD software.
+ Experience with Aerospace and/or Optical Manufacturing.
+ Experience with Fiber Optic Systems.
Work Environment
This position requires 100% onsite presence Monday through Friday, with core hours from 9 am to 3 pm PST. However, a total of 40 hours per week is necessary. The role involves spending 40% of time on the production floor working with technician teams to execute special test and teardown activities on defective materials. Another 40% of the time is devoted to self-directed work off the production floor to develop test/teardown plans, document observations from forensic investigations, and develop standard rework plans. The remaining 20% is spent in meetings such as root cause review meetings and daily stand-ups.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $63.00 - $78.00/hr.
