Job Title: Downstream Processing TechnicianJob Description
The Downstream Processing Technician is responsible for supporting the manufacture of Commercial and Clinical Biologics, adhering to Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs). The role involves various functions related to Downstream processes, including purification, filtration, and chromatography. The Technician will manufacture buffers and simple bulk reagents and participate in process improvement projects.
Responsibilities
+ Review all area documents.
+ Manage the WNS.
+ Assist in the manufacture of controls and calibrators, completing batch records in accordance with cGMPs.
+ Perform in-process assays using equipment such as spectrophotometers, pH meters, and clinical analyzers.
+ Weigh, transfer, and mix chemicals as required.
+ Conduct product filtrations.
+ Clean and steam steel tanks (CIP) / (SIP).
+ Prepare glassware and steel tanks for sterilization and operate autoclave.
+ Maintain lab equipment, including pumps, pH meters, and flow meters.
+ Keep department lead or manager updated on all issues.
+ Monitor stocks of common lab supplies.
+ Perform other job duties as required.
+ Respond to Emergency notifications.
+ Be flexible with hours, including weekends.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in cleanroom procedures and aseptic technique.
+ Experience in laboratory settings and chemical handling.
+ Minimum of 2 years of work experience in manufacturing, operation, production, lab setting, or a related field.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Preferred: Experience in a cGMP regulated environment and aseptic technique.
+ Bachelor's Degree in Science, preferably in a STEM field.
+ Knowledge of cGMP practices, aseptic techniques, and chemical concepts.
+ Subject Matter Expert on downstream processing steps.
Work Environment
The role operates in clean room/aseptic suites where gowning is required, including wearing a full gowning suit (bodysuit, gloves, hair & beard nets, face covers, and safety glasses). Certain items are prohibited such as makeup, jewelry, nail polish, cologne/perfume, and scented lotions or hair care products. The position involves rotating 12-hour shifts, with both day and night options available, working 7 days out of a 2-week period. Technicians must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs independently and stand for 80% of the shift.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $31.00/hr.
