Job Title: NDE TechnicianJob Description
The primary role of the NDE Technician is to provide NDT support for various manufacturing processes, including welding and machining. Additionally, the technician may be required to assist the Level III personnel in developing NDT procedures and techniques, as well as administering training and certification for NDT staff.
Responsibilities
+ Provide NDT support for manufacturing processes such as welding and machining.
+ Assist in the development of NDT procedures and techniques.
+ Administer training and certification of NDT personnel.
+ Conduct radiographic and ultrasonic testing, with RT requiring clearance for hypersonics and UT focusing on gloveboxes.
+ Document inspection results with strong attention to detail.
+ Inspect welding processes and ensure compliance with quality standards.
Essential Skills
+ AS9100, NADCAP, and NQA-1 Quality Systems expertise.
+ ASNT Certification with 5-10 years of experience as an NDE Technician.
+ Experience in Radiographic Testing (RT) or Ultrasonic Testing (UT), with a focus on sheer-wave for UT.
+ Strong documentation skills.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar tools.
+ Current or previous certification as an ASNT NDT Level II in Ultrasonics (UT), Liquid Penetrant (PT), and Visual Testing (VT).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
+ Minimum of 10 years of experience in relevant quality systems.
+ Knowledge and/or certification in Radiographic Testing (RT), Electromagnetic Testing (ET), and Leak Testing (MSLT) NDT methods.
Work Environment
The position is onsite in Huntsville, AL, where the team includes a lead and two Level 3 NDEs. The role involves hiring four more Level 2 technicians, with one starting in June. The government customer is present onsite daily to observe NDE testing. Work hours are from 6 AM to 4:30 PM with a lunch break and two additional breaks. The role may require working towards 10 overtime hours per week, supporting Department of Energy projects related to missiles and gloveboxes.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.70 - $48.10/hr.
