The Vice President will develop and implement strategies to meet the evolving needs of the membership related to power supply, transmission services, rates, and programs, including load management and distributed generation. This role involves leading the power supply and business development team, managing day-to-day activities, and developing staff knowledge and expertise. The Vice President will ensure reliable, cost-competitive power supply and transmission service provision, while ensuring compliance with relevant market rules and federal and state mandates, including carbon-free initiatives.
Responsibilities
+ Assist with the formulation of power supply strategy and oversee long-term power supply resource plan development.
+ Foster relationships with utility suppliers, power marketers, and developers.
+ Support power supply procurement contract negotiations, asset development, and asset management for local and bulk system renewables and storage.
+ Collaborate across the organization to identify opportunities for business development, including strategic initiatives and operational capabilities such as load management.
+ Evaluate new products and services, perform market research, develop financial pro forma statements, and develop and implement pilot programs.
+ Provide leadership in developing strategic insights from member data and related information, supporting division and enterprise data analytics opportunities.
+ Manage and optimize the load management portfolio; develop tools and strategies to achieve member benefits and reduce cooperative costs.
+ Lead rate study processes and collaborate with other departments to optimize and evolve member rates and pricing.
+ Demonstrate the ability to lead projects involving internal and external teams.
Essential Skills
+ General knowledge of regulatory policy analysis, power generation including renewables and distributed resources, risk management, MISO markets, transmission rights, energy services, and integrated resource planning.
+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
+ 5+ years of recent experience in the energy utility sector.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Master's degree preferred but not required.
+ MISO market transactional experience.
+ 3 years of recent supervisory experience with proven ability to lead people.
+ Expertise in regulatory policy analysis, power generation including renewables and distributed resources, power marketing, risk management, MISO markets, transmission rights, energy services, business development, and integrated resource planning.
+ Demonstrated ability to initiate and lead major projects involving internal and external customers.
+ Effective and persuasive public speaking skills.
+ MISO market knowledge is a plus.
Work Environment
This is an onsite/hybrid role located in the northwest metro with 5 direct reports and an intern. You will be working with Minnesota’s largest electric cooperative, providing electricity, renewable energy alternatives, and related services to 147,000+ residential and commercial members just north of the Twin Cities. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $188000.00/yr.
