    Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

    Job Description

    The Manufacturing Engineer will take charge of a blend of manufacturing engineering duties and oversee production during off-shifts. Collaborating with leaders of manufacturing and production support, the role involves reviewing floor performance, facilitating planning, scheduling, setup, and running of manufacturing activities.

     

    The engineer will lead the distribution of materials for manufacturing, ensuring labor and material requirements align with daily schedules. This position is approximately 70%-80% on the floor, making hands-on engagement crucial.

    Responsibilities

    + Maintain manufacturing production processes by observing process volumes and recommending improvements.

    + Monitor progress, expedite material flow, and resolve issues to ensure smooth production.

    + Improve workflow by eliminating stoppages, analyzing delays, and testing new methods.

    + Record production data by completing daily shift reports and calculating yields and recoveries.

    + Ensure process flow continuity by communicating production status, requirements, and issues to the next shift.

    + Maintain a working relationship with the union by complying with the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

    + Adhere to organizational standards and legal regulations to maintain a safe and healthy manufacturing environment.

    + Oversee manufacturing outcomes by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, and counseling associates.

    + Present job expectations, plan, monitor, and appraise job contributions, and adhere to policies and procedures.

    Essential Skills

    + Engineering Degree

    + 2+ years of engineering experience in an automotive manufacturing environment

    + General understanding of assembly or machining processes

    + Leadership or supervision experience

    + High level of interpersonal skills for effective collaboration

    + A strong inclination towards hands-on work on the manufacturing floor

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience working with unions (nice to have)

     

    Work Environment

    Hours:

    + 3rd shift from 10pm to 6am, with potential early or late handoff periods.

    + The individual may work on 2nd or 3rd shift as needed.

    + 45 hour work weeks - 50 hours during busy times (paid OT)

     

    The team consists of three other engineers within a larger 35-member team.

     

    The work environment involves 70%-80% floor time, focusing on production support, root cause analysis, and product disassembly.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $40.87/hr.
