Job Description
Join our team as a Stress Analysis Engineer based in Woodland Hills, CA, and be a part of our mission-driven efforts in global security. Engage in a rewarding opportunity that supports our Enterprise-wide digital transformation using model-based engineering and agile practices. This role involves designing military avionics, including inertial navigation, measurement systems, and mission computers for the Sentinel program. This position is 100% on-site and is not eligible for remote work. A competitive relocation assistance package may be offered.
Responsibilities
+ Serve as a technical individual contributor for the Analysis Engineering Team.
+ Understand the requirements and methods for analyzing structures to determine structural viability leading to certification.
+ Perform structural analysis including static, dynamics, stability, and damage tolerance analysis of metallic and electromechanical systems using both hand calculations and automated methods.
+ Build Finite Element Models (FEMs) using CAD geometry, meshing, and running solutions.
+ Review drawings and requirements for materials, structures, systems, and subsystems to perform analyses demonstrating compliance.
+ Manipulate large-scale finite element models.
+ Document structural analysis methods and propose new methods based on project needs.
+ Compute margins using appropriate analysis methods.
+ Document static/dynamic test plans and procedure requirements.
+ Participate and present in internal and external customer design reviews.
+ Support material review board (MRB) and nonconformance to ensure sound structural substantiation.
+ Collaborate in a team environment, prioritize tasks, and develop solutions for complex problems.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with five or more years of applicable experience, OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with three or more years of applicable experience, OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 1 year of applicable experience.
+ Experience with FEA analysis, preferably ANSYS, for structural analysis of designs.
+ Experience with system/sub-system FEA modeling/analysis, including static, modal, buckling, dynamic, sine, random, acoustic, thermal strength/distortion, and bolted joint analyses.
+ Ability to verify the validity of simulation results by hand calculations or comparison with heritage programs.
+ Active DoD Secret or higher clearance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Metallic structural analysis experience.
+ Thermal analysis experience.
+ Experience with ANSYS and 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) software applications.
+ Solid understanding of loads development used for structural analysis.
+ Experience in test planning, test support, and data reduction.
+ Experience supporting mechanical analysis of circuit card design.
+ Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving skills.
+ Self-motivated with experience working in a team environment.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Work Environment
This position is 100% on-site with no telecommuting options. The role requires an Active Secret clearance and operates on a 1st Shift 9/80A schedule. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $90.00/hr.
