Job Description
Join our dynamic family medicine team as a Medical Assistant, where you'll be an integral part of patient care and administrative support. This role is perfect for those who enjoy a mix of phone work and direct patient interaction, contributing to a friendly and team-oriented environment. We are seeking a dedicated Certified Medical Assistant to join our team as a Care Coordinator/Prior Authorization MA. This role involves rooming patients, obtaining prior authorizations, and supporting providers in delivering high-quality internal medicine care.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct phone triage, addressing patient medical inquiries, test results, and medication refills as directed by providers.
+ Facilitate prescription refills via fax, phone, or electronic transmission as per provider instructions.
+ Handle walk-in patient duties including triage, conducting blood pressure checks, urinalyses, and medication sample requests.
+ Collect patient history and other relevant information to relay to providers for further direction.
+ Perform appointment scheduling and assist with electronic health records management.
+ Obtain authorizations for approvals, handle benefits approvals, perform extensive phone and electronic record tasks, manager referrals.
+ Assist with traditional MA duties as needed, such as rooming patients, collecting vitals, etc.
Qualifications & Skills Required:
+ Education/Certifications Required:
+ Active CMA (AAMA), RMA, or CCMA certification.
+ Successful completion and graduation from a recognized medical assistant training course or equivalent experience.
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
+ Experience Required:
+ 1-3 years of experience working as a CMA.
+ Experience in family practice, internal medicine, or pediatrics.
+ Prior authorization, care coordinating, and triage experience.
+ Excellent communication skills, especially in interactions with providers.
+ Upbeat, positive, and outgoing attitude.
+ Ability to stand for long periods.
+ Willingness to step in and cover for medical assistants if needed.
+ Proficiency in EMR systems such as Cerner.
+ Strong patient care and customer service skills.
Work Environment
This position is based in a family medicine clinic located in Greenwood, IN, offering a Monday to Friday from 8 am -5 pm schedule, with no weekend or holiday shifts. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.22 - $25.00/hr.
