Brief Job Description
Internal applications are being accepted for the position of Interim Associate Dean in the School of Education and Applied Professions. This is an internal job posting limited to faculty with continuing appointment (tenure) and an academic rank of associate professor or higher at SUNY Buffalo State who are currently paid from any state-appropriated-funds payroll.
This calendar year Management/Confidential position reports to the dean of the School of Education and Applied Professions.
+ Represent Applied Professions on various campus committees and work groups.
+ Report to the dean on areas to include Applied Professions course schedule, curriculum revisions, program creation, program review, and catalog oversight as well as liaison for general education assessment.
+ Serve as resource for faculty development to include participation in new faculty orientation.
+ Serve as point person for Applied Professions probation and dismissal processes.
+ Teach one course each semester.
+ Represent Applied Professions on the Commencement Committee.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• Record of successful, ongoing teaching, scholarship, and service to the university
• Ability to professionally represent the dean and the school of education and applied professions within the university and in the community
• Successful administrative experience and demonstrated leadership capability
• Excellence in attention to detail and organizational, communication, administrative, and technology skills
• Ability to model collegiality, work as a team member, and demonstrate initiative and commitment to the school of education and applied professions and Buffalo State mission, vision, and values
• A terminal degree or higher and progressively responsible experience in academic administration
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with curriculum development, assessment, and program review
• Experience with academic advisement and student success activities
