    Department Summary

    The home of the premier journal in the field, and the first program on the West Coast to offer the Ph.D. in Comparative Literature, the Department of Comparative Literature provides a point of convergence for the most exciting lines of inquiry within the Humanities and beyond. Our mission is that of giving shape and shelter to a conversation whose participants are drawn not only from the various departments of language and literature (English, Romance, East Asian, Classics, Russian, German and Scandinavian) but also from Philosophy, History, Art History, Cinema Studies, Anthropology, Ethnic Studies, Journalism and Communication, and Music.

     

    The Department of Comparative Literature is situated in the Humanities Division of the College of Arts and Sciences and offers undergraduate major and minor degrees and graduate doctoral degrees in comparative literature.

    Position Summary

    The Department of Comparative Literature at the University of Oregon is seeking qualified applicants for its open instruction pool. Positions are limited duration appointments teaching and supporting undergraduate courses in comparative literature. Initial instructor appointments will not exceed one year but may have the possibility of renewal for up to a total of three years.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Masters degree in Comparative Literature or related degree

    • Teaching experience consistent with likely assignments in the Department of Comparative Literature
