    Minimum qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optics, Materials Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

    + 6 years of experience in micro-LED displays with a focus on optics.

    + Experience with optical design software, including raytracing (e.g., LightTools, Zemax, or equivalent), and full wave solvers (e.g., Lumerical FDTD, or equivalent).

    + Experience with optical testing for spectral, spatial and angular output display characterization (e.g., CCD colorimeters, photometers, etc.).

    Preferred qualifications:

    + PhD in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field with emphasis on semiconductor optoelectronics or photonics.

    + Experience designing and optimizing microLED devices for efficiency, color and angular output performance targets.

    + Experience in consumer electronics product development, including design for manufacturing and reliability.

    + Experience in display optical design, with experience applied in AR microdisplay projectors and microLED displays.

    + Understanding of Augmented Reality display optical systems, microdisplays (microLED, microOLED, LCoS), image quality metrics and display optical calibration.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Our mission is to develop and deliver Micro-LED displays with industry-leading brightness, efficiency, color fidelity, and overall optical quality for applications.

     

    We are looking for an experienced innovative microdisplay optical architect to join the Google Devices and Services TechEng Displays team and help develop next generation products. In this role, you will lead investigations for optimizing microdisplay optical designs, solve optical integration tests, develop and simulate optical architectures, and work with cross-functional teams and suppliers to develop prototypes and products for delivering an industry leading display experience.

    The US base salary range for this full-time position is $174,000-$258,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.     + Microdisplay optical architecture development, with a focus on optical design, integration and display image quality optimization.

    + Optical simulations, prototyping and characterization of microdisplays.

    + Evaluate microLED display solutions, and drive improvements in pixel design for optimizing optical performance (IQE, LEE, and output light shaping).

    + Build optical simulations for microLED native and color conversion designs. Investigate new technologies for light extraction and shaping (micro- and nano-structures), PL color conversion (quantum dots, rods, etc.), and co-optimization with microLED emitters.

    + Work with internal and external partners for developing and delivering new microdisplays.
