Minimum qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, finance, technology, policy or equivalent practical experience.
+ 10 years of experience in a commercial transactions role in energy markets (especially in the US).
+ 10 years of experience leading negotiations or business development.
+ Experience in people management.
+ Ability to travel up to 40% as needed.
Preferred qualifications:
+ Experience leading complex and scalable cross-functional programs.
+ Experience working with utilities to execute energy supply agreements, procuring new generation resources, contracting for wholesale and retail electricity, and conducting site selection due diligence.
+ Experience in mentoring, managing, coaching or developing teams.
+ Knowledge in data center power infrastructure requirements, data center planning processes, and data center capacity delivery channels.
+ Ability to work separately while coordinating and synchronizing efforts of the team with other team members and stakeholders.
+ Excellent communication and influencing skills.

As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth. You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.
Google’s Clean Energy and Power team is seeking a new manager to help grow the scale and impact of our Americas Energy transactions function.
In this role, you will work with global energy leadership to set direction for the team’s work and will oversee execution of the commercial energy transactions strategy in the Americas. You will work in partnership with stakeholders across Energy and Location Strategy (ELS), as well as other teams within Technical Infrastructure, Finance, and Legal. You will have people management responsibility for a subset of team members within the ELS Americas Energy commercial structuring team. You will drive cross-functional programs, leading teams, setting priorities, building consensus, and organizing work. You will be committed in developing talent and future leaders. Additionally, you will have a track record of building scalable and highly impactful programs and a commercial understanding of electricity markets and utility industries is paramount.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $171,000-$254,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. + Manage energy strategic negotiators on the Americas Energy commercial structuring team, setting goals, priorities and tactics.
+ Manage staff workload, priorities, development, and coaching.
+ Help set strategy and oversee execution of said strategy in the area of responsibility. Execute on Google priorities across data center site selection and development, utility energy supply and infrastructure negotiations, and clean energy.
+ Escalation point for decisions (as appropriate).
+ Manage executive relationships with key counterparties across the Americas energy portfolio. Actively engage to seek alignment with cross-functional partners.
