    The Position

    Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.

     

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

     

    This position provides high-level administrative support to the Director's Office, with a primary focus on managing the Department of Wildlife's regulatory process. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing regulations from initiation through finalization, ensuring statutory compliance and coordinating with the Wildlife Commission and the Legislative Counsel Bureau. The role also includes key support functions during Commission meetings, such as taking minutes and assisting the Executive Assistant. The incumbent additionally manages travel logistics, monitors budget and accounting activities, and oversees general office operations. Serving as the first point of contact for the Director's Office, both in person and by phone, the incumbent interacts regularly with the public, including individuals who may be upset or confrontational, as well as with state and federal officials. This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional capable of managing multiple complex administrative tasks with discretion and efficiency, including coordinating schedules and meetings for the Director, Deputy Directors, and Management Analyst. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

     

    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

     

    Special Notes

     

    This position has a 25% travel requirement.

    Special Requirements

    This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.

     

    Additional Position Criteria

     

    This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in state service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service.
