The Position

Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

This position is in the Bureau of Industrial Site Cleanup located in Las Vegas. This position reviews permit applications, engineering reports, proposals and plans for activities and operations subject to State and Federal regulations governing wastewater treatment, solid and hazardous waste management, and site remediation; determines if facilities utilize sound engineering practices; develops permit conditions; and prepares draft reports that conform to State and Federal water and waste regulations and defend recommendations in public hearings. The incumbent will oversee and perform field investigations and inspections of wastewater treatment facilities, industrial operations, solid and hazardous waste management facilities and remediation sites; collect samples, analyze data and prepare reports for agency and public review; collect and perform quality assurance and control functions on data for reports and studies designed to monitor air and water quality; review corrective action plans for compliance with established remediation standards; and recommend enforcement action for permit and law violations. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. Special Requirements

A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
