    Summary You will serve as an ELECTRONIC MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT MECHANIC LEADER in the Calibration Laboratory Branch (Code 13 7.1), Regional Metrology & Calibration Division (Code 137), Quality Assurance Office (Code 130) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will select, set up, calibrate, install, and operate a variety of precision measurement equipment including special test consoles and mockups in support of laboratory testing and calibration tests. You will analyze, isolate and repair component malfunctions. You will develop new procedures or substitutions of equipment without compromising the integrity of the test being performed, ensuring compliance with Naval Warfare Assessment Division (NW AD). You will assist in the developmental testing of equipment, e.g., radar, communications, countermeasures, traffic control, guidance, etc. You will develop detailed schematics, drawings, and calibration procedures for use by lower graded workers. You will provide training and/or on the job instruction to lower-level artisans in metrology practices, proper use and operation of complex standards, proper troubleshooting techniques, and in mathematical calculations. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE: Experience operating, calibrating, and troubleshooting electronic measurement instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and other related electronic test equipment. Experience identifying and solving complex technical issues with various electronic systems and equipment, including both hands-on repairs and strategic problem-solving to optimize workflow and laboratory performance. Experience reading and interpreting a variety of technical electronic data contained in manufacturer specifications, blueprints, schematics, maintenance procedures and technical bulletins. Experience prioritizing tasks and managing a team in a way that ensures deadlines are met and quality standards are maintained or surpassed. Experience analyzing circuits and preparing detailed schematics, drawings, and calibration procedures for use by others. Experience interacting with team members, supervisors, upper management, and other departments, as well as documenting calibration problems and effectively reporting issues to engineering.
