How you will make an impact:
Using standard operating procedures (SOP) and current good manufacturing practices (cGMP), the Animal Technician I is responsible for all aspects of animal care and handling as part of the antibody production process. The antibodies produced are primarily used for toxicology screening and therapeutic drug monitoring.
What you will do:
+ Responsible for daily care, bedding, and feeding of mice according to guidelines
+ Must be able to handle animals, specifically to inject mice with hybridomas
+ Harvests ascites or tissue from mice
+ Weigh, transfer, and mix required chemicals
+ Completes and reviews cGMP batch records for ascites production
+ Maintains mice room cleanliness and housekeeping standards
+ Achieve on-time delivery goals for work orders
+ Cleaning of cages and equipment (hand and mechanical washing)
+ Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of supplies
+ Keeps department lead or manager updated on all issues
+ Conforms to company safety and cGMP guidelines
+ Weekend work and other job duties are required
How you will get here:
Education
+ High School diploma or equivalent
Experience
+ 0-2 years relevant animal handling/husbandry experience
+ Experience working in cGMP environment preferred
+ Experience working with potentially biohazardous materials (animals, human blood, serum) and other hazardous chemicals is a plus
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
+ Working knowledge of the metric system (weights & volumes)
+ Laboratory skills and knowledge of safety precautions
+ Detail oriented, organized, self-motivated and focused
+ Good verbal communication skills, can follow procedures carefully
+ Basic computer/software skills (Outlook, Excel and Word)
+ Must work well in a team environment and be adaptable to changes in priorities.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
+ Must be capable of using both hands for seizing, holding, grasping, picking, pinching or otherwise
+ Must be able to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time
+ Must be able to lift 25 lbs routinely
+ May be required to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally

Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $18.72–$25.75.
