Position summary:
The Vice President of Student Learning & Success serves as the College’s chief officer for student learning and success, reporting directly to the President, and provides leadership for fostering student achievement, retention and overall success. This includes overseeing student support services, developing and implementing strategies to improve student outcomes, and promoting a student-centered culture. The VP of Student Learning & Success ensures excellence in teaching, learning, and support systems that foster student access, engagement, retention, completion and career success. In collaboration with the President, Strategic Leadership Team, and institutional stakeholders, the Vice President leads institution-wide efforts to align learning and support strategies with Kilgore College’s mission to provide high-quality, accessible education that meets the needs of its learners and the regional workforce.
Position responsibilities:
+ Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance student learning, success, and access across the institution.
+ Student Support: Direct student support services – including, but not limited to, advising, counseling, tutoring, and career services – in collaboration with the Associate Vice President of Student Success.
+ Enrollment Management: Oversee the college’s enrollment management strategy, driving seamless integration of student recruitment, retention, and enrollment management to ensure a thriving student population.
+ Program Development: In conjunction with the instructional deans, lead the exploration, creation and implementation of new academic programs.
+ Budget Management : Manage the budget for student learning and success programs and services.
+ Data Analysis: Analyze enrollment, retention and graduation data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
+ Stakeholder Communication : Communicate effectively with external and internal stakeholders.
+ Leadership & Supervision: Supervise, motivate, train, and evaluate staff providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
+ Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations and institutional policies while fostering a culture of continuous improvement in instruction and student success.
+ Library Oversight: Oversee library operations to ensure alignment with the College’s academic mission, supporting faculty instruction, student learning, and access to information resources.
+ Accreditation: Assist in the accreditation process by providing information and data related to student learning and success.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
+ Advanced Degree: An advanced degree in higher education leadership, a teaching discipline, or a closely related field, and a combination of recent teaching and prior administrative experience required.
+ Experience: Extensive experience in higher education administration, particularly in student services, academic support, and instructional program development including progressively responsible management roles.
+ Leadership: A transformational leader who understands and advocates for the needs of traditional and non-traditional students alike. Skilled in establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with all segments of the College.
+ Instruction: Recent teaching experience and must have knowledge and experience with hybrid, online, and HyFlex instructional modalities. Must possess knowledge of and experience with student populations typically enrolled at a community college including, but not limited to, dual credit, continuing education, adult education literacy, non-traditional upskilling & reskilling, transfer, and workforce students.
+ Community College: Demonstrated understanding of, and a commitment to, the community college mission and purpose, teaching, learning, and student success. Possesses the ability to understand and embrace the dynamics of a rural community college and the demographics it serves.
+ Data Analysis: Ability to analyze data and use it to inform decision-making. Skill in identifying problems, analyzing data, and making recommendations.
+ Budgeting & Financial Management: Experience in budget development and managing resources.
+ Strategic Planning: Ability to contribute to and implement strategic operations to achieve institutional goals.
+ Knowledge of Higher Education: Thorough understanding of higher education policies, regulations, and best practices that support operational excellence and student success. Knowledge of accreditation requirements and processes.
+ Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
+ Partnership : Cultivate key partnerships with K-12 school districts, universities, and regional employers to strengthen workforce development, seamless transfer options, and academic collaboration.
+ Innovation: Ability to be creative and innovative to accomplish the goals of the institution.
+ Faculty Advocate: An instructional leader who champions faculty initiatives and remains responsive to their needs and strategies.
+ Work Schedule: Ability to meet a work schedule that will include evenings and weekends.
+ Duties: Performs all other duties necessary to accomplish the educational objectives of the College and/or as assigned by the President.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
+ Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office and classroom environment.
+ No or very limited physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
+ No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
Special Requirements:
+ Subject to a criminal background check prior to employment.

+ Provide resources for safe operation of units. Create and support workplace safety.

Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program. Preferred applications will be reviewed on June 30, 2025. This position will remain open until filled.
All full-time positions are located in Kilgore, TX. No fully work from home positions are available at this time. All employees must be available to physically present to work on the Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX Campus. Some Part-Time and Adjunct positions may be offsite but the candidate MUST live in the State of Texas.

Positions will remain open until filled. Some Adjunct and Part-Time teaching positions may remain open perpetually as the need for part time instructors fluctuates with student enrollment. Teaching positions will be required to submit official transcripts upon an offer of employment. An offer of employment will be contingent upon passing a background check. Federal law prohibits the employment of unauthorized aliens. All persons hired must submit satisfactory proof of employment authorization and identity within three (3) days of being hired. Failure to submit proof within the required time shall result in immediate employment termination. All position appointments are subject to approval by the college's Board of Trustees.
