    Your Specific Responsibilities:

    The incumbent is part of a global public health organization and is expected to support the Florida Department of Health in Dixie, Gilchrist and Levy County in its missionto protect, promote and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county and community effortsand its vision to be theHealthiest Statein the Nation.     The incumbent in this position performs independent and complex work providing clinical care and program oversight in Dixie, Gilchrist and Levy County. This position reports directly to the Executive Community Health Nursing Director.

     

    This position provides assistance to the Executive Community Health Nursing Director with supervisory oversight to all nurses and health support techs in the clinic, daily clinic assignments, clinic flow and coordination with the clerical staff and provider. Triages medical issues of clients and consults with provider. Delegates tasks as appropriate to ensure clinic efficiency. Develops staffing schedules. Attends conference calls and meetings as requested by supervisor. Assures reports and assignments of the clinical staff and self are completed on time. Maintains/assigns clinic staff representation at all community outreach events. Assures accurate and complete medical record documentation and reviews staff documentation monthly. Assures patient care and work areas are maintained in a safe and orderly fashion. Provides triage of patient needs and staff needs and resolves problems and conflicts in the work environment. Delegates clinical duties within staff scope of practice. Provides clinical programs such as HIV, ADAP, STD, FP, FBCPP, Sterilization, Immunizations, TB, Communicable Disease and epilepsy with oversight and ensures protocols, TAGs and IOPs in place and being followed.

     

    Tri County Program oversight - Manages multiple clinical programs for Dixie, Gilchrist and Levy County. Will review ADAP client files every six months to ensure files contain the required documentation for determining client eligibility. Performs ADAP enrollments and re-enrollments and trains nurses in back up duties. Will assure HIV testing and counseling site certifications remain current and staff complete annual training. Provides oversight of the Vaccine Inventory and Handling Program. Assures each CHD completes FLSHOTS re-enrollment annually and that mandatory staff complete their annual training on time. Will attend Administrative meetings and lead QI committees to reach goals of the CHD clinical programs. Will serve as a mentor to all clinical supervisors and unit leaders. Will report any concerns or barriers to Executive Community Health Nursing Director. Assists with Clinical budget preparation and planning with the support of the Business Office Manager and the Executive CH Director of Nursing.

     

    Ensures self and staff attend trainings as required by their licensure, protocol or development plans. Documents the training in an accurate and retrievable manner.

     

    Ensures clinical staff are vaccinated against VPD or have declination letters on file.

     

    Conducts QI reviews of charts, customer service surveys monthly, and informs supervisor of the results. Designates a corrective action plan when opportunities for improvement are identified.

     

    Performs other related duties as requested by supervisor.

     

    Attends trainings to enhance knowledge, skills and abilities as they relate to duties and responsibilities. Maintains professional development through job-related lectures, seminars, online trainings, teleconferences, etc.

     

    Responsible for ensuring EARs and/or CSRs are input and verified in the HMS system in accordance with DOH/HMS guidelines and deadlines, for self and staff supervised. As supervisor, reviews and verifies employees’ EARs and timesheets for accuracy and agreement by the prescribed DOH/HMS deadlines.

     

    Responsible for securing the designated information sets for the purpose of protecting confidentiality, data integrity, and appropriate access for all information, both confidential and public record, that are stored in hard copy or electronic format.

     

    Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or to perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Skilled in effective communication; skilled in administering immunizations and IM injections; knowledge of clinical practices and governing protocols; knowledge of nursing process; ability to lead and motivate others; ability to organize and recognize efficiencies; knowledge of vaccination schedules and practices; knowledge of TB, ADAP, Epilepsy, HIV, Maternity, Child Health, Immunizations, Insulin, Hepatitis Program guidelines; skilled in managing conflict; knowledge of emergency situation protocols; knowledge of nursing protocols; ability to mentor and educate others; knowledge of pharmacy protocols and guidelines; knowledge of mandatory trainings and license specific trainings .

    Qualifications:

    Minimum –Clear and Active Florida Registered Nurse License, valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and willing to travel from site to site, basic computer skills, good written and verbal skills. Experience working in HMS and FL Shots in a County Health Department.

     

    Preferred -- Bachlelor of Science in Nursing.
