BAE Systems is seeking a Steam Plant Technologist for the Radford Army Ammunition Plant located in Radford Virginia. Under the general direction of the Facilities Operations Manager, the Steam Plant Technologist is responsible for plant engineering, operations and maintenance support, contractor support, and project management. The Steam Plant Technologist serves as a resource for plant personnel to assist in the safe, effective, and efficient operation of the facility. The successful candidate will also be responsible for various reports to support business needs.
In this role, you will:
+ Engineer, design and justify plant modifications and improvements.
+ Perform troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repairs on complex electrical and mechanical issues throughout the powerhouse and power generation system, coordinating with site personnel, vendors and contractors as needed.
+ Evaluate and make recommendations for steam plant spare parts inventory.
+ Provide guidance, oversight, and directions to personnel as needed.
+ Develop and maintain plant performance and efficiency analysis tools and report s findings to the Energy Manager.
+ Prepare capital project budgets for approval and administer the project budget.
+ Provide support in the development of work scopes associated with scheduled and non-scheduled outages.
+ Carry out complex projects and assignments independently.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
+ Exhibit a thorough understanding of plant design, construction, operations, maintenance, and analysis in the utility industry, oil & gas industry, required.
+ Write specifications and standards and coordinate engineering projects and assignments.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Engineering Degree or Equivalent Work Experience
+ 6 years experience in operations and maintenance of gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, electronic controls and monitoring devices
+ Extensive knowledge of natural gas and steam technologies
+ Demonstrated effective skills to coordinate effectively with external and internal stakeholders
+ Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills required along with attention to detail, adherence to deadlines and the ability to manage multiple projects and sub-projects concurrently.
+ Proficient in engineering design and principles for updating equipment, including pumps, turbines, and generators.
+ Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Projects).
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with personnel on all levels.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Specialized education/experience in steam or power distribution
+ 10 years experience in power plant operations and maintenance
+ Hands-on experience in operations and maintenance of rotating equipment
+ Experience developing and maintaining Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
+ SharePoint experience
+ Supervisory experience of professional and union employees
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $105254 - $178931

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
