Position Definition: TheEarly Intervention Special Education Facilitatoris responsible for facilitating and coordinating the Early Intervention programs/services to which he/she is assigned. Relationship: TheEarly Intervention Special Education Facilitatorshall be responsible to the Early Intervention Supervisor. Qualifications: Education/Experience:
+ Master’s Degree or Master’s Equivalence in Education.
+ Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Special Education Teacher or Speech/Language Therapist in Early Intervention and/or Special Education.

+ Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.

+ Due to itinerant nature of the position, the Early Intervention Special Education Facilitator must have a valid driver's license.
Physical:
+ Ability to drive.
+ Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, lift, reach, and communicate (vision, hearing, and speech) to effectively carry out functions, duties, and responsibilities.
+ Ability to independently ambulate in and around work areas.
+ Ability to travel to and from assigned work locations without employer support.
+ Ability to exhibit appropriate manual dexterity to effectively carry out functions, duties, and responsibilities.
+ Ability to conduct a safety restraint protocol which requires:
a normal degree of flexibility;the ability to stand, walk, run, and shuffle for at least several minutes;the ability to kneel on one and two knees and then stand up;the ability to bend the trunk at 45 degrees and twist to either side;the ability to grasp firmly and raise hands above the head; andthe ability to learn and correctly demonstrate multi-step physical skills.
Authority:TheEarly Intervention Special Education Facilitatorwill have the authority to perform all functions listed below in accordance with established policies and procedures. Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function/duty/responsibility at acceptable standards. + Assists preschool teachers in preparing and maintaining ongoing Early Intervention instructional programs, including appropriate supportive services.
+ Assesses curriculum effectiveness and implements change when necessary.
+ Provides input on staff performance and provides staff development through effective collaboration.
+ Participates in the planning and development of appropriate Early Intervention programs and services.
+ Consults with typical preschool personnel regarding special education programming.
+ Coordinates the appropriate steps in the referral-placement process.
+ Assists in the recruitment, screening, and recommendation of staff for employment.
+ Establishes working relationships with parents, typical preschool personnel, school district personnel, agencies, and the community.
+ Maintains appropriate records for assigned programs and services.
Secondary:
+ Participates in the planning and development of Early Intervention programs and projects.
+ Participates in orientation for new staff.
+ Participates in the development of a comprehensive in-service plan for Special Education Early Intervention.
+ Maintains professional knowledge through review of professional literature, attendance at workshops, field visitations, research, and formal study.
+ Performs other duties as assigned by the Early Intervention Supervisor.
