    DESCRIPTION: The Special Education Teacher will deliver a combination of consultant teacher support and self-contained special education services to middle school/high school students. They will oversee the development and facilitation of students' IEP: ensuring that each student's goals are addressed; maintains and updates special education records for accuracy and compliance. They will be responsible for collaborating with general education teachers and modifying instruction as needed. The special education teacher will demonstrate an understanding of intervention strategies, the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, and communicate effectively with parents. Reports to the Director of Student Services and Building Principal.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Develops lesson plans for effective delivery of instruction for students in a self-contained classroom setting.

    + Collaborates with providers concerning each student's IEP and provides general education teachers with support on how to modify lesson plans and work.

    + Writes and implements an Individualized Education Program according to student specific needs.

    + Assesses skills, collects data, monitors student progress, and evaluates growth to make recommendations for instruction and support.

    + Maintains appropriate standards of behavior, mutual respect, and safety. Manages classroom routines and procedures without loss of significant instructional time.

    + Conveys knowledge of and enthusiasm for academic discipline to students.

    + Works actively to involve parents in their child's activities and communicates clearly with them.

    + Able to organize and prioritize daily schedule and duties.

    + Performs related duties as required or assigned by administration.
