    Director, Data and ResearchSupervised by: Chief, Innovation and ResearchStart Date:7/1/25Description:The Director of Research and Data will be responsible for leading and supporting CRCSD’s data analytics and registration teams. The primary charge will be to build and manage best in class data systems and build capacity across work groups to utilize actionable data to drive critical academic outcomes and operational efficiencies. Critical responsibilities include:

     

    Roles and Responsibilities1. Data Strategy

     

    + Develop and support a comprehensive data strategy aligned with CRCSD’s strategic plan.

    + Support a data-informed culture among educators, administrators, and staff, emphasizing the use of data for continuous improvement.

    2. Building Capacity Building and Improve Collaboration:

    + Developing and implementing professional development opportunities to enhance data literacy among educators and administrators.

    + Empowering staff to effectively access, interpret, and use data to inform their practice.

    + Collaborate with teachers, principals, curriculum directors, technology staff, and other stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide relevant data and insights.

    + Communicating data findings effectively to various audiences, including educators, administrators, school boards, and the community.

    + Building partnerships with external organizations and researchers to leverage data for educational improvement.

    3. Data Health, Governance, Security & Management

    + Governance - Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures specific to the K-12 environment.

    + Health - Ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of student data, assessment data, staff data, and operational data. Managing data dictionaries, data standards, and data quality checks to maintain data integrity across various systems.

    + Management - Manage critical data systems (i.e. Infinite Campus, Tableau).

    + Develop and maintain a secure and efficient data infrastructure to support data storage, integration, and reporting.

    + Ensure data accessibility for authorized personnel while adhering to strict privacy and security protocols.

    + Ensure data integrity by managing the SIS database, serving as a project manager to leverage SIS tools for efficiency, integrating the SIS database with other databases, writing queries, designing reports, and supporting state reporting. This position trains users on the student information system use and provides first-level support to users as well as advanced troubleshooting.

    + Security - Collaborate with the Chief Compliance Officer to ensure strict compliance with federal and state data privacy laws and regulations.

    + Implementing robust data security measures to protect sensitive student and staff information from unauthorized access or breaches.

    + Developing and delivering training to staff on data privacy and security best practices.

    4. Data Analytics and Insights for Improvement:

    + Lead the development of data analytics capabilities to provide educators and administrators with instructionally actionable insights for staff.

    + Collaborate with researchers, data analysts, and CRCSD educators to develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations that inform instructional decisions and policy changes.

    + Lead development and implementation of early warning systems to identify students who may need additional support and track support plans.

    + Lead development of Return on Investment system to evaluate effectiveness and efficiencies of programs.

    5. Registration, State Reporting and Student Records

    + Manage state reporting and student records.

    + Build, manage, codify, maintain, and archive standard operating procedures for registration and state reporting.
