Department Summary:
The N113 Integrated Space C2 department fields capabilities and establishes cross cutting enablers to deliver an integrated resilient Space C2 Enterprise for the Space Warfighter. Specifically, N113 is focused on enabling the Space Systems Command (SSC) Space System Integration Office to drive impactful change within the Space C2 warfighting enterprise through systems of systems integration across all domains. N113 proliferates system engineering and integration solutions for advanced near-term rapid capabilities through work with the Space Rapid Capabilities Office (SpRCO) and longer-term Space C2 capabilities enabling closure of kill chain gaps through work with SSC Battle Management Command Control & Communications and Space Intelligence (BMC3I). N113 performs systems modeling, software architecting and development, and analysis to close kill chains and achieve space superiority. The outcomes of these efforts provide high-quality, comprehensive, quantitative insights for senior government decision makers shaping the future of our nation’s Space policy, operations, and systems. The N113 department is a major contributor to the Space Warfighting Division by enabling joint combat power and superiority in all domains in, from, and through space
Roles & Responsibilities:
MITRE’s N113 Integrated Space C2 Department is seeking an experienced and biased to action project leader for the United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) Space Systems Integration Office (SSIO) project with a proven track record of senior sponsor engagement and strategic work shaping. The project leader will provide technical leadership for a set of dynamic and impactful integrated work areas to meet the challenges of realizing the future of Space Warfighting and delivering Space C2 to our mission collaborators & stakeholders. This project will enable SSIO to integrate space command and control (C2) capabilities across the USSF, Program Executive Offices (PEOs) & mission partners and into the all-domain fight; analyze architecture & integration gaps in strong collaboration with PEO Command, Control, Communications and Battle Management (C3BM); improve and accelerate PEO integrated capability delivery; and recommend enterprise investment priorities. The project focus will be on Mission Engineering to close integrated capability gaps on high priority kill chains in close coordination with the BMC3I and Combat Power (CP) PEOs, as well as Space Development Agency (SDA), Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and National Reconnaissance Office (NRO).
Key functions include:
+ Sponsor interaction – develop deep trusted relationships and regularly engage with sponsor senior leadership, providing strategic and technical leadership as a trusted advisor to both SSIO and C3BM, enhancing MITRE’s role in proactively shaping programs to achieve operational mission objectives.
+ Work shaping – proactively develop and define good MITRE work and project outcomes in alignment with sponsor and NSEC space warfighting outcomes; align project work to identify and address the toughest current and future challenges sponsors face; supporting enterprise/corporate-level initiatives.
+ MITRE backplane – proactively seek opportunities to bring MITRE to bear and execute on collaboration opportunities to increase impact across MITRE projects, share products to maximize the impact of work done in for SSIO, and leveraging this role to integrate across MNS sponsor aligned organizations.
+ Staff leadership – evolve the team and grow staff through career training, hiring and onboarding; handle/process requests for badge, network, and lab access, visit requests, tool integration, etc.
+ Culture development – foster and demonstrate a strong and positive culture built upon MITRE’s values, while maintaining a collaborative working environment for all.
+ Project administration – financial reporting tools, project pages, meeting coordination, status reports, future MITRE support requests, project work statements, facility management, etc.
This position is located in Los Angeles, CA.
Basic Qualifications:
+ Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a technical Bachelor’s degree; or 10 years and Master’s degree; or a PhD with 7 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
+ Active Top-Secret SCI clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a SAP security clearance
+ Proven ability to develop a trusted advisor relationship with a senior DoD/government sponsor
+ Shown success in working across organizational boundaries to deliver results
+ Experience establishing, developing, and cohering collaborative effective teams
+ Effective organizational skills and discipline to keep the project well-scoped and the team driven to accomplish specific objectives
+ Experience leading large, multidisciplinary, complex projects that require managing significant risk
+ Develops, applies, and trains others in best practices to improve organizational processes and solutions
+ Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
+ Effective collaboration, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills
+ Self-starter
+ This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site
Preferred Qualifications:
+ MS or PhD in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Applied Cybersecurity Engineering or similar field
+ Current SAP clearance(s)
+ Domain knowledge of the USSF Enterprise
+ Demonstrated ability in Space C2 and integration, leadership, system development, enterprise/system of systems engineering and architecture development of sophisticated systems
+ Brings an industry perspective to understand how to integrate and accelerate commercial technologies
+ Demonstrated strategic space system-of-systems thought leader
+ Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
+ Demonstrated experience leading geographically separated teams with the diverse background and skills
+ Demonstrated ability to work shape within a team to drive technical impact
+ Significant experience as a technical or program manager, experience on acquisition programs
+ Ability to quickly respond to changing program and political environment while keeping strategic focus intact
+ Experience building or using digital engineering methods, conducting analysis, and providing recommendations to support planning and decision-making
+ Serve as a mentor and foster a culture of technical creativity and mission impact, including but not limited to collaborating across MITRE to provide cross-cutting and impactful solutions
+ Experience direct knowledge of key operational or acquisition commands: SSC BMC3I PEO, Space Rapid Capabilities Office, Space Operations Command (SpOC)
+ Experience in building both enterprise and tactical solutions that integrate within the DoD

Salary compensation range and midpoint:
$188,500 - $235,500 - $282,500 Annual
