    Job Description

    The Staff Technician - Student Development Specialist provides professional and specialized skills for support in planning, developing, implementing, and managing student development initiatives intended for the support and experiences of all Tarleton students and may be involved with overseeing initiative budgets, and maximizing campus and community resources and opportunities. Plans, implements, and assess initiatives for students to advance in the Mission of the Division for Global, Community and First-Gen initiatives. Assists in developing, maintaining and assessing initiatives, curriculum and activities, including meetings, outreach, and trainings. This individual will interact with University stakeholders to create and sustain campus-wide initiatives.

     

    This position is on the Stephenville campus with work hours of Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, or as work requirements indicate. May occasionally travel to other campus locations. Position is temporary with a 3-month assignment and may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours and work hours may vary during peak season. Serves as CSA (Campus Security Authority).

     

    Must have the ability to work remotely at the request of the university in times of inclement weather or other special circumstances.

     

    This is a non-benefits eligible position.

    Responsibilities:

    + 60% Provides assistance with the creation, implementation and maintenance of initiatives. This includes creating, assessing, planning and hosting initiatives and campus-wide programs. Specifically, works with developing all aspects of initiatives. This person will also participate in Divisional training and initiatives. Additionally, this person will manage initiatives that focus on retention and graduation. Tasks specific to this responsibility include knowledge of retention strategies, budget oversight, expense reporting, and cross-departmental collaboration.

    + Will support efforts of the Divisional leadership in building and maintaining relationships with faculty, staff, and community partners. The successful candidate will have knowledge of or the ability to learn appropriate software (currently such as Excel or Access) for assessment and reporting.

    + 25% Interact with various organizations/stakeholders, faculty, students, and staff to create and sustain campus-wide initiatives.

    + 15% Performs other duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience:

    + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent/related experience; especially with an understanding of military services, veterans, or other military connected initiatives.

    + One or more years of experience in student affairs work or related specialty with a bachelor's degree. No experience required with a master's degree.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Oral and written communication skills.

     

    Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

    Compensation:

    The target hourly compensation range is $19.04 to $24.04 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
