    Queer Student Resources (QSR), an office of the Vice Provost of Student Affairs at Stanford University, seeks a new Assistant Director to lead in our efforts to enhance learning and promote flourishing for all Stanford students.

     

    QSR seeks continually to support students, to learn from them about their experiences, needs and most pressing questions, and to draw on that knowledge as effectively and creatively as possible.

    We’re looking for a person who can be an active partner and contributor to our ongoing work:

    + Fostering social and intellectual connections between students, promoting well-being and enhancing learning.

    + Helping students navigate university systems and access available resources.

    + Co-creating, with partners across campus, optimal learning environments for all students.

    An ideal candidate will be especially skilled at:

    + Engendering trust and connecting with students with varied life experiences and a variegated range of interests, questions and concerns.

    + Modeling curiosity, respect, healthy boundaries, service and work-life balance.

    + Taking initiative in navigating a decentralized campus.

    + Supportingstudents and trusting the integrity of their unique paths.

    + Developing, managing, supporting and assessing student-centered resources and programs.

    + Writing and editing.

    + Designing and curating intentional and visually engaging physical and digital spaces.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    + Listen and provide a sounding board to students on a range of sometimes difficult issues, making referrals to campus partners and resources where appropriate.

    + Advise a wide range of students and groups affiliated with QSR on major event planning, organizational development, fundraising, recruiting, &university policies for campus groups and activities.

    + Analyze and attend to student needs, concerns, and conflictsby designing and revising student programs and services and by proactivelyaddressingemerging priorities.

    + Manage the recruitment, hiring, supervisionand evaluation of QSR fellows and student staff members.

    + Work collaboratively with QSR Director and Associate Director to develop comprehensive onboarding for student staff, and to design and facilitate student staff meetings and retreats.

    + Supervise student staff use of shared purchasing card; ensure that students stay withinbudgeted spending limits.

    + Manage financial processes and budgets using Stanford systems;superviseoperating and gift accounts.

    + Transfer funds to student groups; verify all financial transactions; initiate interdepartmental journal transfers; issuepayments; ensure that expenditures stay within budgeted spending limits.

    + Manage all facilitiesand suppliesneeds associated withQSR’s designated space, including usage by student groups and other campus organizations.

    + Manage relationships with vendors, work orders related to facilities and access needs, alarm system, capital improvements,etc.

    + Work with designated campus partners on select collaborative projects.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    **Education & Experience** :

     

    Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience. Master’s degree preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    + Strong communication skills, written and verbal.

    + Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.

    + Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with students in crisis, and competence working with students with varied life experiences.

    + Experience in student affairs and/or knowledge of related fields and interdisciplinary contexts in higher education preferred.

    + Ability to use computer and technology for word processing, accounting, managing social media and website presence; familiarity and proficiency with google docs.

    + Understanding of and ability to process financialtransactions;strong attention to detail.

    + Ability to work some evenings and weekends.

    + Ability to ensure and apply compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

    + Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks.

    + Occasionally stand, walk, twist, use fine manipulation, grasp, use a telephone, write by hand, sort and file paperwork, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 30 pounds.

    _The expected pay range for this position is_ $91,874 - $96,000 _per annum._

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
