    Peckham Inc. - Trades Specialist

    POSITION SUMMARY

    We are seeking a passionate and skilled Trades Specialist to join our team. The Trades Specialist will be a unique hybrid position supporting the learning and growth of learners who are wanting to learn key trades skills related to construction, electrical work, drywall, and general plumbing in addition to supporting Peckham’s vast facilities team to complete essential projects. This position will involve teaching participants foundational trade skills, with a focus on tool safety and practical techniques to prepare them for future apprenticeship opportunities in the trades industry. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic educator with a deep understanding of trade practices and a commitment to helping others succeed. This candidate will also be a strong team player and communicator as this will be essential to carrying out the projects and teaching objectives.

    MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Teach participants essential trade skills in construction, electrical work, drywall, and plumbing, with an emphasis on safety protocols and proper tool usage.

    + Design and deliver structured, hands-on training sessions that cater to participants with varying levels of prior knowledge and skill.

    + Develop and maintain curriculum focused on core trade concepts, safety standards, and practical applications.

    + Evaluate participant progress through regular assessments and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their skills.

    + Ensure all activities are conducted with a focus on safety and adherence to industry standards.

    + Collaborate with the Peckham facilities team to determine work assignments and priority projects when classroom instruction is not in session.

    + Complete tasks and projects with the highest quality and integrity.

    + Act as a mentor and role model, providing guidance and encouragement to participants to foster a positive learning environment.

    + Offer individual assistance to students as needed, ensuring that they fully understand key concepts and develop confidence in their abilities.

    + Prepare participants for future apprenticeship opportunities in various trades by instilling the fundamental skills and knowledge needed for success.

    + Work autonomously when needed while also collaborating effectively with other leadership team members to ensure alignment with overall program goals.

    + Communicate regularly with facility team leadership to receive work assignments and project updates.

    + Prioritize projects and schedule to accommodate contract needs.

    + Participate in regular team meetings to discuss curriculum improvements, student progress, and industry trends.

    + Contribute to an inclusive, collaborative, and supportive work environment.

    + Collaborate with other Trades Specialists to review curriculum and best practices in a teaching environment

    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Promote Peckham’s vision, value, culture, and commitment to excellent customer services to all team members, staff, customers and stakeholders

    + Maintain a safe and clean work environment

    + Other duties as assigned

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    + High School Diploma and/or proven experience working in at least one of the following trades: Construction, Electrical Work, Drywall Installation, or General Plumbing.

    + Prior teaching or mentoring experience, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information.

    + Strong understanding of tool safety, best practices, and industry standards.

    + Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain a high level of professionalism.

    + Ability to work in a hands-on environment, demonstrating and guiding students in the safe use of tools and equipment.

    + Strong understanding of tool safety, best practices, and industry standards.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    + Certification or licensure in one or more of the following areas: Construction, Electrical, Plumbing, or related fields

    + Experience working in apprenticeship programs or vocational training settings.
