    Summary This job opportunity is for an AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC, position description D0115000, within the 177th MXS of the New Jersey National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position. The primary purposeof this position is to perform on and off equipment maintenance on aircraftegress systems, such as aircraft ejection seats, extraction and escape systems. Responsibilities As an AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG-6652-10, you will: Troubleshoot, install, remove, repair, modify, adjust, inspect, and test each components as regulators, flow indicators, actuator motors, thruster and positioning mechanisms, seat actuators, catapult guide rails, ejection seats, rocket packs, and canopies, etc Inspect for safety, serviceability, and maintainability of systems prior to installation, removal, repair, or adjustments of components and insures proper installation and positioning of safety pins, initiators, simulators, and clearing mechanisms Visually inspect ballistic lines, tubes, hoses, and linkage for damage, deterioration, restrictions, and security of connections and mountings, and performs corrective maintenance as required Inspect pressurization system air pressure gauges for sufficient pressure and bottles and regulators for general condition and serviceability.Check canopy and capsule structure and associated seals, latches, and locks for damage and security Position, repair, and adjust required aerospace ground equipment, such as rail extensions, hoists, slings. dollies, and trailers used in performing maintenance tasks Solve unusual installation and maintenance problems by studying lavout drawings, schematic and wiring diagrams, applicable technical publications, and analyzing construction and operating characteristics of egress systems Select proper maintenance and repair procedures and correct the malfunction and/or defective equipment Diagnose recurring malfunctions and recommend corrective action bv initiation of Quality Deficiency Reports, proposed modifications, or other appropriate action Requirements Conditions of Employment Additional Employment Requirements: -Participation in direct deposit is mandatory -May be required to successfully complete a probationary period -Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation -Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service Security Clearance Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance within 1(One) Year of appointment. Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Military Grade: Min: SRA/E-4 and Max: SSGT/E-5 Applicant(s) (Enlisted) who are over grade must clearly state, in their resumes, their intentions to willingly take a reduction in grade Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Compatible Military Assignments Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a *military unit* compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position. *Military Unit* -- The unit by which the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee; or a unit that the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee to support. (Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1) Qualifications General Experience: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to: Repair malfunctions of ordnance equipment and components Use sketches, electrical diagrams, technical specifications and engineering drawings Demonstrate skill in the use of test equipment to make electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic checks Specialized Experience: At least 18 months of experience or training: Planning and layout of repair sequence and ability to complete modification, repair and installation of ordnance systems Diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions and determining remedy where complex relationships exist Using hand tools and a limited number of measuring equipment Using of a variety of test equipment Interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams and manufacturer's specifications Education There are no education requirements for this vacancy announcement Additional Information If you are a male applicant who was born after 12/31/1959 and are required to register under the Military Selective Service Act, the Defense Authorization Act of 1986 requires that you be registered or you are not eligible for appointment in this agency (https://www.sss.gov/RegVer/wfRegistration.aspx).
