The People and Culture team has an exciting opening for an Associate Director for Talent Management. This is a full-time, permanent position.
The Associate Director will serve as a leader on University Advancement's People and Culture (PaC) team, overseeing the HRBP program for UA, maintaining the performance and talent management programs and providing expert guidance regarding HR metrics. The Associate Director manages three direct reports.
What You Will Do:** **Strategic Partnership and Operations (40%)
• Maintain a thriving HRBP program for University Advancement by partnering with leadership across UA to assess needs and determine programming.
• Delegate responsibilities to the HRBP team, taking into consideration cross-functional needs and priorities, such as talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation analysis, team structure, retention strategy, and employee engagement.
• Oversee the talent management program, which includes performance management, organizational structure and talent development. Recommend updates and improvements as necessary.
• Partner with the Learning & Development (L&D) team to build strategies for skill development and learning pathways for employees.
• Support University Advancement managers and teams in resolving employee relations issues, performance management situations, performance feedback, and employee engagement, retention and inclusions. Provide counsel on other topics, as needed.
• Collaborate with the Senior Director of People and Culture to drive continuous process improvements, foster a culture of innovation, and promote the standardization and consolidation of HR processes, while identifying and tracking key success indicators.
Employee Relations (35%)
• Serve as a business partner to a select group of clients, providing counsel, education and recommendations regarding performance management, corrective action, complaint resolution, and investigations. Work with parties to achieve the most positive outcomes and resolutions of employee complaints or concerns.
• Advise clients on federal and state regulations and laws, labor agreements, and UW and UA policies and procedures.
• Respond to staff inquiries and independently resolve problems in areas such as employment processes, benefits eligibility and calculations, leave administration, compensation, job classification and employee relations.
• Support the HRBP team by addressing escalated concerns by advising and providing resourceful solutions to employee relations issues within the parameters of all regulations, laws, policies and procedures.
• Provide direction and counsel during the talent review process in collaboration with the Senior Director.
Policies, Procedures and Administration (20%)
• Evaluate organizational practices in compliance with laws, rules and policies.
• Develop staffing recommendations in compliance with regulatory requirements while meeting UA operational needs.
• Interpret, analyze and disseminate rules, procedures, and policies in HR areas.
• Identify needs for policy or procedure development and clarification. Write guidelines, procedures and policies, as necessary.
• Manage, administer and advise on compliance with federal, state and UW policies (i.e., FMLA, ADA, WA Ethics compliance).
• Develop and implement processes, procedures and tracking mechanisms to ensure accurate and timely information regarding the administration of all policies and procedures.
• Participate and assist in the development, management, and maintenance of HR metrics.
Other duties as assigned (5%)
• Manage special projects and direct the work of direct reports, as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience in human resources or related field.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.** **What You Bring:
• Proven experience or training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations.
• Ability to interpret, analyze and apply complex rules and regulations to inform employment-related problem solving and consulting.
• Innovative approach to achieving results.
• Ability to resolve conflicts and differences through dialog and open communication in a timely manner.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and protect privileged information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite for correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and forms.
What You Can Expect:
• Cubicle/open workspace environment which may result in additional or higher levels of noise and visual distractions.
• Some evening and weekend hours are required, as necessary.
• Some local travel may be required.
