UW’s Division of Plastic Surgery has an exciting opportunity for a Program Operations Specialist, which is part of UW School of Medicine’s Department of Surgery.** **POSITION PURPOSE
The Program Operations Specialist (POS), in collaboration with the Administrator, Division Chief, and faculty, is responsible for the administrative, programmatic, and operational needs of the Division Chief and Section at UW Medical Center-Montlake.
As an integral member of the team, the POS plays a key role in providing comprehensive support to the Chief and Surgeons within the Division. The POS collaborates closely with expert faculty and staff across multiple sites, ensuring seamless operational and programmatic efficiency. This full-time role requires a strong understanding of clinical and academic practices, facilitating the division’s mission in patient care, teaching, and research.
The successful candidate will be skilled at advancing the Department of Surgery’s mission. They will have a substantial impact on divisional operations and faculty success, leveraging healthcare program experience, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively across multiple systems and locations

Division/Center Mission:
The Program Operations Specialist contributes substantially to the mission, particularly to the clinical mission, but importantly manages the intersections between clinical, research and training of the Emergency General Surgery section of the Department of Surgery. This position significantly impacts those successful operations and activities of the faculty and the Division of Plastic Surgery.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Executive Administrative Management of PSD Division Chief = 30%
• Management of variety of administrative operational duties in support of the Plastic Surgery Division = 30%
• Strategic and Programmatic Operational Responsibilities for UWMC Plastic Surgery Operational activities would take place cross-sites, in clinical and academic arenas. = 30%
• Management of Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship =10%
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• BA in business, health sciences, biology, psychology, English or other relevant
• 2-3 years of experience and in healthcare programs
Equivalent education/experience can substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Can work successfully within a variety of systems and sites;
• Must be able to accurately understand and interpret policy and processes;
• Expert user of Microsoft Office products;
• Must understand basic financial/accounting concepts;
• Understands and can implement basic project management skills.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 3+ years working with a surgical program
• Experience working in an academic medical setting
• Understanding of academic educational and research programs
• Knowledge and/or expertise in creating content for publication, websites, and other media formats to highlight the academic work of the sections and division
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This position is suited for a hybrid work situation. Specific schedule to be determined with supervisor and dependent on business needs.
