    Job Summary

    The general description of this work is to assist in the image processing of research PET scans received from outside the University as part of several multi-center imaging trials involved in imaging of PET scans from measure glucose metabolism, amyloid load, and tau load of the brain.

    Responsibilities*

    + Download images from the project specific image repository for processing at the University of Michigan

    + Assess whether PET scans were acquired and reconstructed per the scan protocols for each project

    + Enter key scan information both into logbooks as needed for external audits

    + Enter key scan information into Excel files to track all scans performed in a project and to assist in quality control efforts

    + Run a series of 3 or 4 project specific batch jobs that do all the processing steps for each PET scan that creates both data for quality control checks, and image processing to produce images that are used to provide quantitative numbers specific for a given project.

    + Perform specific quality control checks based on the outputs from these batch jobs

    + Review final process image sets

    + Submit the processed scan output for final review by the UM PET Core director or designee

    + Submit all project data for data archive and long-term storage

    + Perform various image analysis technique on processed images

    Required Qualifications*

    + B.S. in physics or engineering related field

    + 4-5 years of experience in a related field.

    + Experience in image processing and data analysis

    Desired Qualifications*

    + Graduate degree in a similar field.

    + Work experience with medical images in a Radiology setting.

    Background Screening

     

    Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
