Job Overview
We are seeking a new Systems Construction Oversight Manager (COM) to join our team at Ardmore Roderick. As a Systems COM, you join a program management team of infrastructure solutions experts assigned to working on our client’s design-bid (DB) project. This opportunity will be located in our Program Management Office adjacent to the Red Line Extension (RLE) construction site and will require regular field visits to observe the work.
Key Responsibilities
+ Manage each stage of the project to ensure that all contractual Systems commitments are met on time and within budget
+ Identify the necessary resources required for the execution of Systems work on the design-build project through completion
+ Review design build documents to confirm project deliverables, analyze work plans, schedules and budgets for all project stages, and oversee the Construction Manager during Systems installation and testing for the duration of the project
+ Oversight of scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and change management with the goal of producing a functional and financially viable Systems installation to the required quality
+ Attend and participate in regular progress and Systems coordination meetings internal to the project team as well as client facing meetings to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns
+ Maintain a good understanding of the project scope in order to identify scope creep and ensure the change management process is initiated
+ When scope changes occur, assist CM in negotiating solutions to ensure outcomes meet client expectations and contractual obligations
+ Ensure that the CM provides timely internal and external communication throughout all project phases, including developing and maintaining meeting minutes, progress records, and follow-up on action items
+ Participate in monthly project reviews to review project status, budget, work plan, schedule and risks
+ Ensure that all Systems close-out documents are submitted and forwarded to appropriate parties upon completion of the project
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s Degree + 8 years of relevant experience in delivery of Systems for rail and transit projects
+ Strong technical knowledge and 6+ years of experience in at least one of the following design disciplines and strong familiarity with the other two:
+ Communication Systems (i.e. public address, passenger information digital displays, CCTV, intrusion and access control, SCADA, and others)
+ Power Supply & Distribution (i.e. traction power, substations, third rail, and others)
+ Signaling & Train Control (ATC, ATO, ATP, PTC, fixed block, and others)
+ 6+ years of experience in US transit rail projects with various project delivery methods such as Design-Build or Design-Bid-Build
+ Professional Engineer or PMP certification
Preferred Qualifications
+ 10 years or more of relevant experience in United States public rail and transit industry
+ Known to public transit clients in Chicago, IL. (i.e. Chicago Transit Authority and Metra)
+ Proven technical and non-technical leadership and communication skills while representing the program management team in front of external clients such as contractors, subcontractors, agencies, and government representatives and understanding the sensitivities of those interactions
+ Experience in rail vehicle systems, including technical reviews, vehicle integration, testing and commissioning
+ Knowledge of O&M environments within transit agencies
+ Familiar with other disciplines typically requiring coordination with Systems design and installation such as Architectural, Structural, Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical
+ Familiar with non-technical disciplines typically requiring support from Systems representatives within projects such as procurement, security and safety assurance, quality management, and others
+ Able to work with minimum supervision
+ Excellent communication, organizational and team skills
+ Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills

Salary Range: $135,200 to $176,800. Ardmore Roderick is providing the compensation range that the company believes it might pay and/or offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
