ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Early Childhood Clinician will serve families with children headed by young adults ages 18 to 25 years old. They will have overall responsibility of completing assessments of social and health needs for children with special needs, individual and group counseling, crisis interventions, and providing linkages to children’s therapeutic services. The goal is to promote healthy social-emotional development, prevent mental health crises, and address challenging behaviors for young children. The Early Childhood Clinician will:
+ Manage a caseload of families and conducts home visits
+ Coordinate parent/family involvement with Parent Provider conference workshops and activities
+ Provides individual and group vocational counseling to assist parents in achieving their vocational and career goals
+ Conduct 1-on-1 sessions with tenants to ensure successful completion of service plan goals; empower tenants to utilize their strengths to meet any barriers to goal completion
+ Develop and maintain a wide range of community-based resources to provide training
+ Develop and monitor linkages with external providers of mental health, substance abuse, and other therapeutic services
+ Provide developmentally appropriate home-based and community child development services, coordinate parent/family involvement with parent provider conference workshops and activities
+ Take some program-wide responsibilities that may include annual events, parent/child groups, etc.
+ Develop consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with families and children
+ Be part of a team in assessing family needs and child developmental status
+ Be part of a team in developing an individualized family/child plan addressing family and child needs
+ Prepare and maintain up to date records and tenant files, outcomes, including tenants’ personal and eligibility information, records of services provided, and all relevant correspondence
+ Utilize person-centered approach and motivational interviewing to help residents to meet their prioritized needs
+ Provide appropriate services to families/children based on the individualized family plan
+ Complete Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals which are aligned with grade level content standards for all children with disabilities
+ Work closely with families on specific issues and difficulties those individual families are experiencing
+ Provide families with appropriate referrals and follow-up with families and service providers on referrals
+ Provide workshops to families and staff and develop parent support groups as determined together with clients
+ Participate in internal and external case conferences
+ Advocate for resources for children and model for parents and families how to self-advocate
+ Other duties as requested by supervisor to fulfill job responsibilities
COMPETENCIES

+ Trained in child development, mandated reporting, and family dynamics
+ Trained in harm reduction and housing first services approaches
+ Experience with evidence-based practices and/or evidence-informed services including, but not limited to:
+ Positive Youth Development
+ Recovery-Oriented and Trauma-Informed Case Management
+ Critical Time Intervention
+ Ability to problem solve and work independently
+ Must be able to travel and work evening and weekend hours

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
+ Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, or related human services field required.
+ At least 2-3 years of relevant social service experience, particularly in child development services
