The Materials & Processes Engineering (MPE) group in West Palm Beach is looking for an experienced laboratory technician to perform a wide range of technical tasks supporting the MPE core disciplines of Failure Analysis, Material Development, and Design Support. Tasks may include but are not limited to executing material processing including forging, machining, forming, coating, and heat treatment; performing chemical processing including etching, cleaning, and chemical composition analysis; and metallurgical sample preparation including the extraction, mounting, polishing and documentation of provided samples for jet engine applications. The technician will work closely with engineering customers and MPE staff to execute test and evaluation programs from initial proof of concept and development of the work plan, through final documentation of results. Candidate must possess an affinity for working with and troubleshooting laboratory equipment, with associated responsibilities spanning the setup and operation of metallic and coating fabrication processes, machining, mechanical testing, chemical/thermal processing, and detailed documentation of experimental data.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Work closely with MPE staff engineers and technicians to plan and execute material development, evaluation, and documentation activities.
+ Maintain lab areas per 6S guidelines for general housekeeping and workflow.
+ Obtain and maintain all required EH&S training requirements.
+ Participate actively in the MPE Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) program.
Qualifications You Must Have:
+ AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
+ US Citizenship required; ability to obtain a US Gov't security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer:
+ Minimum of 8 years in an industrial/laboratory environment providing relevant general experience with test/processing equipment, troubleshooting, sample fabrication and testing.
+ At least five years of specifically relevant experience in the processing of metallurgical samples, operation of machine tools and heat treatment equipment, and a basic knowledge of jet engine operation, components, and materials.
+ Active US Gov't security clearance, with the ability to obtain additional Special Access clearances.
+ Organizational skills, ability to follow Standard Work processes and laboratory cleanliness are critical to the advancement of program milestones and are expected.
+ Provide exceptional technical and interpersonal skills as they will be interfacing daily with other MPE employees and customers.
+ Technical competency to learn to operate machine tools, metallographic equipment (optical microscopes, hardness testers, scanning electron microscope), processing equipment (forging press and control system, spray equipment, mixers, high temperature furnaces, ovens, etc.), mechanical testing equipment (load frames, load cells and data recording devices), and standard computing systems using Microsoft tools.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
The salary range for this role is 62,000 USD - 126,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
