    We’re looking for a Principal Quality Engineer to work with others to achieve excellence in design and efficient lifecycle execution.

     

    In this role, you will be responsible for working closely with design engineering teams in Mission Systems to provide quality-focused technical and process oversight of product developments throughout their lifecycle. As a Mission Systems Development Quality & Integrity (DQI) team member you will ensure designs meet quality expectations, as well as customer, regulatory, and other requirements, and influence the adoption of engineering best practices to identify and eliminate defects before delivery.

     

    This is an Onsite position at our St. Petersburg, FL facility.

    What YOU will do:

    + Provide solutions to complex technical software quality problems using established quality practices.

    + Follow and recommend changes to department processes and procedures.

    + Review software products and processes for compliance with contract requirements, software directives and reviews work practices for adequacy.

    + Guide the successful completion of program quality assessments.

    + Interface with Quality and Program leadership to raise and support resolution of quality issues.

    + Interact with product development and test personnel through both written and verbal communication.

    + Review Hardware and Software engineering materials related to the design and release of artifacts.

    + Develop and negotiate quality requirements and support projects.

    Primary Responsibilities

    + Understand emerging software quality and software development paradigms such as agile or DevSecOps.

    + Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality evaluation, control systems and protocols in the design space.

    + Analyzes and makes recommendations for corrective actions for nonconformities and/or design problems for internally produced products & processes.

    + Develop and implement proactive quality strategies.

    + Review of customer complaints and initiation of Corrective Actions

    + Performs Escape management procedures, root cause analysis, and recommends corrective action(s).

    + Complete Corrective Action & Root Cause Analysis Training

    + Making process and procedural recommendations where required to improve overall product quality and customer satisfaction

    + Knowledge of quality methods, including Root Cause Corrective Action and DFMEA Facilitation as required

    + Review of KPIs for initiation of Corrective Actions based on trending analysis

    + KPI metrics analysis & reporting

    + Maintain Layered Process Audits

    + Utilizes and analyzes Quality performance data.

    + Initiates and monitors Quality improvement actions for sites globally and supports field service improvement efforts.

    Qualifications/Experience** **Needed:

    + Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and a minimum of 8 years prior relevant experience **or** an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience

    + Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Strong software background with hardware knowledge

    + Prior design Quality Engineering experience within design or manufacturing and/or warehousing environment is preferred.

    + Knowledge of the design and development process.

    + RCCA experience is preferred.

    + Data analysis, risk management, and/or policy implementation experience is preferred.

    + Advanced Quality methods (e.g. Design Risk Analysis, DFMEA) experience is preferred.

    + Ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance.

    The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

     

    RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
