    Do you enjoy keeping things clean, organized, and running smoothly? Do you take pride in creating a welcoming and comfortable environment? Kelly is seeking a **part-time Custodian** for a large, vibrant church community in Edina, MN. This is a direct-hire job opportunity.

     

    This is a part-time position (20 hours/week) paying $20.00 - $22.00/hour, including some evenings and weekends. Hours will include:

     

    + Wednesdays and Thursday evenings – 4-hour shifts

    + Saturday – 8-hour day shift

    + Sunday – 4-hour morning shift

    + This position will have set hours but will also have some flexibility, with the possibility of picking up shifts to cover team members out sick or on vacation.

    As a Custodian, you'll be:

    + Welcoming and assisting people with their needs, setting up rooms, and ensuring a clean and safe environment.

    + Maintaining the church facilities through cleaning, minor repairs, and ensuring all equipment works properly.

    + Working alongside staff, volunteers, and attendees to create a seamless and enjoyable experience for all.

    + Keep the building and grounds sparkling; including vacuuming, mopping, removing trash, scrubbing sinks, doing laundry, maintaining outdoor spaces, etc.

    + In summer months, performing a more thorough cleaning, including furniture, walls, fixtures, windows, and mechanical units

    + Set up and take down rooms, creating a welcoming space for meetings, events, and gatherings.

    + Addressing needs and concerns of those using the building, responding to people using spaces regarding set up or adjustments.

    + Performing minor repairs, fixing light bulbs, painting, and adjusting doors. Assisting in minor electrical, plumbing repairs, and boiler operation.

    + Safely operate all types of power floor machines, scrubbers, wet and dry vacuums, and carpet maintenance machines.

    + Securing the building in the evening and opening up the facility in the morning (according to scheduled working hours)

    + Watching for and reporting any unsafe situations to the Director of Building and Grounds

    We're looking for someone who:

    + Has experience in facility cleaning and maintenance, proficient in operating cleaning equipment and performing minor repairs.

    + Has experience with minor electrical, plumbing repair work, and painting.

    + Is experienced using garden tools including shovels, rakes, and post-hole diggers

    + Is reliable and hardworking, committed to working effectively and meeting deadlines.

    + Can work weeknights and weekends

    + Can work and communicate well with staff, congregation, volunteers, visitors, and vendors

    + Is detail-oriented, focused on quality, and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.

    + Is a problem solver and able to identify and address issues proactively.

    Physical Requirements

    + Ability to lift 50-lb objects (salt bags, choir risers, and platforms)

    + Ability to climb ladders up to 40’ in height

    + Operate and drive church vehicles, operate a garden tractor with snowbrush, lawn mower, snow blower

     

    Must maintain current and valid Minnesota insurance coverage on your own vehicle, and a valid and current Minnesota driver’s license relative to using your own vehicle for job-related transportation.
