RESEARCH SCIENTIST 2, Research Laboratory of Electronics, to join Professor Jeehwan Kim’s group in a pioneering project on next-generation display and imaging optic systems for mixed reality visualization; will be instrumental in developing high-pixel-density, high-luminance micro displays featuring vertically stacked RGB light-emitting diodes. In a fast-paced collaborative research environment, will work both independently and in a multi-research-group team; engineer micro/nano fabrication process for high-density pixelization, including 2D material-based epi-layer transfer technology, with diffractive optics to create immersive virtual experiences; perform optical simulations to enhance efficiency of light-emitting structures; design diffractive optic imaging systems for virtual stereoscopic 3D visualization. Lead interdisciplinary collaborations for system integration; engage in grant preparation and external funding efforts; train and mentor students and postdoctoral researchers; publish research findings in journals and conferences.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED:
PhD in optics, electrical engineering, physics, computer science, or related fields; a minimum of 4 years of research experience in semiconductor physics, optoelectronics, or integrated photonics; expertise in micro/nano fabrication, display engineering, and optical simulation; strong organizational and leadership skills. PREFERRED: experience in micro display development, GaN/GaAs micro LEDs, and optical system design and experience in developing diffractive optical elements and optical systems; familiarity with optical simulation tools, such as COMSOL, FDTD solutions, and LightTools.
